Source for Fodera/Smith style truss rod?

fodera uses reversible/flippable dual action rods similar to a hotrod, but they can be removed like a rickenbacker. Don't know the exact construction, or whether a hotrod style rod would do the job though. Dunno anything about smith's rods...

By the description, and by the photos, they are not dual action rods. They are dual rod, single action. They only become effectively part of a dual action system if you put them in a slot that allows removal and flipping over.

pilot, you appear to be correct, as usual. :)

They didn't appear to be dual action, but that's how he describes them in his TR manual: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The fuzz appears to be there to facilitate removal...

Yes, dual-rod, single-action. It turns only clock-wise. The position of the rod in the neck makes it go towards or against the strings.

They'd probably sell a replacement. I just wanted to have a few available for a project and some research...

Alex that rod is an updated version of the Rickenbacker dual leaf rod, and a nice update at that. You can have any welder in your area make that rod for you quite inexpensively. As I don't have the measurements, I can't be positive, but it looks to be 10 or 11 ga steel(hot rolled most likely, cold rolled is stiffer). A decent metal shop will have that in stock, if you have to have it made, but I would call Fodera, they would probably help you in acquiring one.
