SpaceX and other space stuff

I thought it was funny how they said they'd go out and start it up once a week to check on it, make sure it's ok.
That reminds me of an old F-150 I used to have. My pop would tell me even if I didn't drive it much to be sure and start it up every once in awhile anyway. :)

I have a '96 E-150 van out in my driveway that I did not do that with, and now it's dead dead dead.

Haha.
I can just imagine Bob and Doug living it up on the ISS over the next few weeks, working hard getting projects and missions completed. The day comes to leave so they say their goodbyes to Chris, Ivan, and Anatoly then hop in Dragon 9 and turn the key to start it up........ nothing. No lights, no dash display, no nothing. You can't compression start that thing, so hopefully they have jumper cables.

Well, they could dust off the Shuttle "Endeavour", retrieve it from the California Science Center, haul it through downtown LA to the decommissioned Vandenberg AFB Shuttle launch site, and go get it's namesake little buddy Crew Dragon "Endeavour". That is, if Dragon Endeavour will fit inside Shuttle Endeavour's cargo bay. Yeah, that'll work. :laugh: I love it when a plan comes together.

I wonder if they just have to give a good wash down cleaning or have to repaint to get all the black soot off the reusable first stage? That said, "Simple Green" works wonders.

Maybe the deck is coated with Crazy Glue? Or there's a really big magnet below deck? Or, and I think this the most likely explanation, Elon Musk has mastered the art of levitation.

In all probability, the landing legs provide enough stability. Since the booster is empty of fuel and oxidizer, the weight is biased towards the lower portion where the engines are. Matter of fact, I think one booster was lost in heavy seas.

So what happened with tonight's Starlink launch? I caught the start of the livestream, but when I went back to it, it was off already. Scrubbed for today?

It took off with no problems.
The details said it was a 15 minute fight to orbit, it was dark, and there were no humans, so this one was kind of a let down from Saturday.
However, it was way cool to watch Falcon 9 land. We missed that Saturday. That was exciting. I think Jessie Anderson (SpaceX Engineer) was more excited than we were though.

Where I live I can see night launches from VAFB if the skies are clear. Watched a Falcon 9 launch last year, could see the upper stage separate from the booster, and the booster turn around and fly back to VAFB. It was really cool to see from the front yard.

Oh wow, that is so rad. I'd love to live close enough to watch this stuff in person.
