Starship launch scheduled for Friday at 7 a.m. local time from its site in Boca Chica, Texas. They've got all the approvals.
Yes, I waited a long time!
My wife has Dr. appointment at 8:30 that I take her to. I might miss some /most of it.

Starship is UP! Booster separation successful, booster then RUDded, but Starship is in space and running nominal!

Oh well. If at first you don't succeed try try again and again and again. They got a lot farther than the 1st time so they did achieve some success.
Everything is a learning experience! 
That first stage burn and concentric shutdown, and the hot-stage startup was all so clean...
And Starship got a nice, long ride out of it too.
They'll get some good data out of this.

Booster RUD didn't disappoint me, and the separation was a good step, but losing the upper stage was a bummer. Was hoping for more there.

I’ve seen pics of the pad area. I looked pretty darn good.

Starship's computer self-destructed over Atlantic

Up to a point, that was an incredibly successful launch.
What we saw was the Starship rocket lift-off from Texas and get through the crucial staging - the separation of the two halves of the rocket.
The top part, the Ship, carried on. It was supposed to continue on its assent for about eight-and-a-half minutes.
Either just before that or just after the computer on board basically destroyed the vehicle.
Why? Because eventually the velocity of this vehicle - at about 140km above the Earth - would've taken it over Africa. But if something was wrong, which clearly there was, then the computer would've destroyed the vehicle at the earliest opportunity so the debris came down over the Atlantic Ocean and not on land over Africa.”
There was a lot of vapor being ejected before the eventual disappearance of the starship so something seemed to be going wrong, even though the engines were still firing.

My take on all this is - yeah, they will definitely Get it. Just like they got Falcon. But - selection of it for the lunar program was beyond dumb at this point. Initial SpaceX contributions to return to the moon should have been derivatives of Falcon and Dragon, not Starship, and certainly not the SLS debacle. This thing ain't landing on the moon for many years. I hope I live to see the return to the moon.
