What color should the hardware (tuners, knobs, bridge, etc) be?

Sorry, man, the NYBW is da proverbial BOMB! It plays like buttah and sounds even bettah. A beautifully constructed instrument simply geared towards tone and comfort. It's a dream to play live and records superbly as well. I am getting a fretted one now too. And I have to say, working with Joel and David at The Groove Shoppe has been a pleasure.

The frosting on the cake, though, is David Segal. A real gentleman who not only builds great basses but is generous with his time and knowledge. And he really wants to take care of his customers. Contact these guys when you're ready. You wont be sorry.

My God man,that bass needs GOLD!
Personally I don't get the black look at all for this bass and many others.If you go with black look hard for a midnight chrome;I have an anniversary Zippo and it's a beautifull gloss carcoal.
Most satin chromes look like hell to me as well.Let me just say that most of my experience with black and satin chrome hardware is from my experience with firearms.Additionally,I spent a few years in art learning to blend and contrast.
Black would defeat the subtle coloring,and satin chrome wouldn't match.Gold would compliment the varying tones of the wood.
I'm assuming you want timeless class,not trendy understated.
Lots of people take gold as a gawdy tone,but I find it has application when applied with an eye for lighting and movement.
At the least go with a shine chrome for durability,and light interplay.Black hardware on decidedly light wood detracts from the center of interest,the wood,and pulls the eye to the deep emptiness.Honestly,alot of fine basses look like common beaters for poor vision on the part of the whole.And remember,the bass should compliment you from a distance.You should compliment the stage.

I'm having one put together myself,and have been out looking at alot of basses.
I guess it aint fair unless I tell you how I'm going at it:light Burl Myrtle top,Bocote fingerboard,Santos Mahogany body and neck,chrome hardware.Yes,I like heavy.
I've seen Ibanez basses with satin chrome and it's awfull;maybe your thinking like a brushed stainless look which looks classy,but wouldn't work here.I think a Warwick Thumb with worn in hardware looks decent for black hardware,but only on darker examples.
BTW-That's a nice looking bass as it stands.I like the decision for the fingerboard as it compliments the top,and headstock.If you must go with black go with lean hardware and pups.Big blocks of black I just couldn't see in this case.
