SPDT Question

I Want to wire in a bypassable tone cap in my bass (Rickenbacker .0047 bypass) and I'm using a SPDT mini-toggle instead of the push/pull pot. I'm trying to figure out how to wire it. Would I leave the 1st lug alone, solder the output of the treble pickup to the 2nd lug, and then solder the .0047 cap to the 3rd and connect it to a ground?

Are you trying to do a HPF or a LPF?

The 0.0047uF cap used on Rickenbackers is used as a HPF, in series with the signal path. What you are describing is a parallel LPF. 0.0047uF sounds far too low to place the cutoff in a useful spot.
 
I'm modding a rickenbacker. I'm rewiring it with a blend rather than vol/vol, and that will make the 3 way selector redundant so I'm going to use that spot for the "vintage" switch instead of the push/pull pot.

In that case, remember that the pickup selector switch is center-on, not center-off. You can't do two caps and a bypass, so two positions will have to have the same function.

a LPF would be a lot more useful to most people, btw.

You want a DPDT switch. Wire it like this. This is for a push/pull, but it doesn't matter, since they are also DPDT. Just ignore the pot in the image:

you could totally do it with a SPDT. (hell, you could do it with a SPST!)

two connections (the pole and one lug), with the cap going across them; put it in series with the bridge pickup.

when the lugs are switched together, the cap is bypassed by the straight connection; when the lugs are disconnected, the signal has to go through the cap, killing the lows as in the original arrangement.

If I understand correctly. I connect bridge PU to center lug (pole?) and the cap to center and top or bottom lug (my choice)? And then connect the center lug to the master volume?
