Speaker to Cab size question

I have an old broken Acoustic B100 combo collecting dust, so I figured I may as well throw in a new 15" and make it an extension cab. I'm looking for something that is punchy and precise, and I have my eyes the Celestion BN15-400s. Would this be a decent fit for this sealed enclosure? I don't know too much about speakers in relation to their cab size, and I just want to be sure before I buy anything.

The dimensions are:
23.5" x 18.75" x 15"

I use several MCM speakers. Great for bass, but lacking in high end, at least the one's I have. (350 watt 12's, 500 watt 15...)The one linked lists 2k as the high end, but the graph looks better than that. You won't find a better buy.

You're wanting to throw a high end neo speaker into that cab? I can't think of a bigger waste of money. The phrase "lipstick on a pig" comes to mind

I can understand you wanting to make it into something useful, but you can't throw a $200 speaker into a $200 combo and all of a sudden make it an awesome sounding cab. If it were me I'd cut my losses and throw something really cheap in there. Sorry to be a bummer but it's just not worth that Celestion neo.

Are you 100% sure that the speaker is broken? That may not me the problem. I also recommend a cheap replace, may be a ferrite celestion

I have to agree with JimmyM it would be a bad use of money. For the cost of the speaker alone you could buy a nice 115 cab used. If your never gonna use the combo then just sell it. Or keep it for a practice amp

Yeah, I figured that would be too much for what i have. That's why I came here first. The celestion was just the first to catch my eye, and then I learned that matching cabs to speaker is a lot more important than just throwing a speaker into an empty cab. I would keep the speaker that is there in now, but I'm afraid it will not be powerful enough for my rig. I've been looking at some of those mcm speakers and they look pretty promising.

Another nod for JimmyM's advice.

There is a fuse inside that brain ,,, maybe it blew. 4 screws on the top of the combo need to be removed for access to the brain.

It might be a simple fix to get your B100 back on his feet.

Also, those GC Acoustic combo amps are a sealed cab design and may not sound right with a Celestion driver.
