That speaker will give me nightmares tonight, that is not natural. Do not sleep to close to it, it might do something.
Next stop for it is a speaker shop to get re-coned. I have done it a few times with old speakers it is cheaper than new and you get the same performance.

No, no one uses it but me and it happens as we were playing. Also, a heavy steel grill on it. Too much Spector and Motley Crue cranked up I guess

Never would have guessed. Cranked bass into speakers near as old as me = speaker pieces flying about.

My drummer in my previous band had a Cerwin Vega 15" cab that he used as a monitor and it did the same thing during a gig, i'm suspecting old and dryed out speaker cone. With my drummers we heard a weird thump and then it ws like confetti comeing out of the speaker cab. pretty impressive. He later switched over to an 18 sub for his drum monitor.

I would be looking real closely at the other driver too for signs of cone creasing.

I pulled both, the other has black duct tape on it. I'm gna look into having both reconed

It would be impressive if you could ''fix'' the lost one with duct tape and get a useful sound. Not that you could rely on getting through gigs like that.
