Speakon adapter advice

Looking to make a speakon adapter to run from my TC Electronic RH450 into 2 x Eden EX112 cabs.
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

Both cabs only have 1/4 inch inputs ( single input only so no linking available) and are 8 ohm.

Can I make a speakon to 2 x 1/4 inch with the speakon being only 2 pole ( I think that is the way the RH450 output is set - but I could be wrong)

Could rip out the 1/4 inch inputs and replace with speakons but this could be an easier way just to make an adapter.
Or does anyone know where I could get one of these cables if they are available?

Musiciansfriend has speakon to 1/4 cables and speakon to 1/4 adapters (here is one at samash Invalid Link Removed). You can also buy a 2 pole or 4 pole speakon end and replace the 1/4 end of a speaker cable. Wire it 1+ to where the tip was and 1- to the sleeve.

Get yourself one of these, then just daisy chain the cabs with quarter-inch cables.

Just replace the jack on the cab with a speakon jack and be done with it.

I got an EX112 last month, and it took me all but 5 minutes to remove the old jack and install one of these:

Less than $3.00 and its a permanent solution.

Thought about it but as I will be running 2 cabs I would need to install two speakons on one cab (as the RH450 has only one output) to link and I didnt want to route a 2nd hole into the cab.

If you don't want to modify the cabs I think it's best to build a neat little splitter box like Mjury02's above. The next simplest would be to buy a Speakon panel-mount socket and a one inch hole cutter - take the socket plate out of one of the cabs and parallel the Speakon to the jack socket with tip to +1 and shaft to -1. Link the cabs with the 1/4" jacks.

Thanks guys,
If I was to make a male speakon to 2 x male 1/4 inch connectors - how would I wire it up?
I think the output on the RH450 is probably an NL2 type speakon (+1 and -1)

Could I do it this way or would I need an NL4 and run +1 and -2 to one 1/4 inch and then the +2 and -2 to the 2nd 1/4 inch?

You would wire them both to the +1 and -1 so that they would be in parallel and wired to the proper leads on the speakon connector.

What happened to buying a single cable with a speakon on one end and 1/4 on the other? Seems like the easiest way if you don't want to modify the cabs.

If you want to get the benefits of speakon, still have the option of 1/4 inputs, and be able to piggy back your cabs in parallel then you need to install these in you cabs: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

The RH450 is more likely to have the four pole version wired +1 and -1. All the equipment I have purchased have been so equipped.

If you make the Y cable remember that if you only use one cabinet the other cable is still live.

Wire both tips to +1 and both sleeves to -1. Ignore the second pair and leave them blank.

You have a couple of options, you could either go to www.greatcables.us, and have them make you one.

Or you could go to Redco Audio - Redco Audio Home Page and get some bulk speaker cable, a speakon end, and a couple of 1/4 ends, and make your own.

Or you could build a parallel box and use three separate speaker cables.

Here's a thread with a similar problem

Are those insulated 1/4" jacks? If not, the box may carry live voltage.

If the cable is "live" if one of the splits isnt plugged in - and it is just hanging there not touching anything - will it damage the amp?
