The Starfleet systems use Neutrino Plasmacons, sub-molecular plasma conduits and injectors. These are managed by nanites.

Hi, you could get something called the combobanger from usbargainsound and that solves a lot of these issues. It's basically 2 hybrid neutrik speakons connected to each other so you could use either speakon or 1/4 jacks at either end.

..i think neutrik makes something similar which accepts many types of speakons, 2P, 4P etc.
