PS. yes i know thats a 5xl in the pic... but that was just for a color reff

OH! now thats nasty! :bassist: Kind of a matte denim blue? that's gonna be sick.

Hey guys quick question (another one).

Do you know if Spector will make a custom neck for a Legend series bass? I just gutted mine out again to put in some DC's + Aggie OBP-3, and I would love to have a maple fretboard with colored inlays like the USA models. I'm sure it's pretty unorthodox, but I figure the Forte's are bolt-on, so why couldn't they?

Forte's are all NT. Look for a spare neck on ebay and see if a local guy will do a new board for you. One of the guys here might from the luthers corner. That would probably be the most cost effective way. It would look cool too. Up till recently only US's had maple boards as options , euro's do now too.

wow I remember back in the day you only had US and NS2A basses. that was it. You got black, white, clear, red, cherry sunburst, and the holy grail Spector only color of "Black Cherry" to chose from (NS2A's got black, white, red, cherry and trans teal). lol, now , sky's the limit.

Wow!!! That is just an incredible curly maple?! You just don't see that any more on new basses.

That is going to be so sweet Chris, congrats man. What color will the LED's be or is that a surprise? :)

Thanks! I was debating maple with black pearl inlays. But I decided on an overall "dark" look. Ebony would be nice... But I really liked the tone of the "mistake green" that John owns and I wouldn't want to mess with the tone lol

Anyways... I'm sure they do ebony. The red bolt on fretless at was at NAMM is ebony and I've seen a few early Spectors with ebony at Spector World.

Haha, I like how it's referred to as the "mistake green" one, LOL.

The Forte's are NT. I own a Forte 4 and soon a 5. Contact PJ, he should be able to help you on the neck change outs. The USA line has bolt-ons also besides NT's.
Please let us know how your mod on the legend's electronics go. I've been thinking about doing something with my legend 4. I'd love to hear a sound clip.

That color looks amazing. :bassist: Congrats :hyper:

I was just thinking, that maple looks just like Johns bass.

Lol, I guess I need to do more Spector studying lol. I knew there were USA bolt-on's I just couldn't remember the name. I emailed PJ, he emailed me back like 5 minutes later. Spector will make a replacement neck for both the Legend and ReBop, but there is no maple fingerboard option for the Korean made basses. I could order a ReBop neck with a maple fingerboard, but it would only fit a ReBop, and they only come in 4 or 5st, not 6st.

I'm going to look into having the fingerboard replaced with maple on my current neck, unless I find one on ebay. I'm actually kinda excited about the prospect!!

It's amazing what the Spectors look like....the only other company that I've admired for paint is Brubaker...some of his bursts fade out to white instead of black!! Aside from that, Spector is the only company that makes me consider getting a painted bass (I prefer natural gloss or satin over everything else).

The Forte's are NT. I own a Forte 4 and soon a 5. Contact PJ, he should be able to help you on the neck change outs. The USA line has bolt-ons also besides NT's.

Thanks again! I'll keep you guys updated on the mods. Right now the Legend is on the bar table in the basement completely gutted out. I'm waiting on BestBassGear to send my 50k concentric pot so I can wire treble and bass on one pot. Aside from that, the Aggie is completely wired and ready to go. I'll just need to solder the Treble/Bass knob and output jack...hopefully it'll be a 30 min to an hour job. PJ talked to the guys in New York, and they all agree that a 18v USA circuit should fit in the Legend...and if not I should be able to separate the pots from the circuit board and just add a few connector wires. That has made me even more excited!!!:hyper::hyper: So EMG+Aggie's first....EMG+Haz later!!!

Oh yeah everyone...PJ sends his regards!!!

I realized I haven't posted any pics of my bass in a few (thousand??) posts...so..here. It's not a 65th anniversary edition or anything....but it's mine

Fellas,
I wanted to tell you that I'm keeping my Black Cherry Euro 4LX. It really is just awesome! I definitely need to put some stainless steel strings on it though. The D'addario XL's I have on right now are great but it sounds just a bit too "nice" ya know? I need some gank and grind. I'm still looking for a Peavey Cirrus 4 but the Euro has found a home.
