Also, here are 2 "first draft tracks" I recorded.
One is a Hard Rock Style the other is a Modern Jazz style.
Both with the Forte w/Haz.
(warning the snare drum is too loud on one of them)
Both show the raw Haz tone, recorded direct into pro tools no outside processing

Damn nice!!!!!!!! Some cool riffs there! Man, I love the HAZ.......You don't even need to dial anything to it. I found that with my SVT 4-pro, all dialed in at 6' I get an insane tone!!
funny. you read my mind. i was reading emg's site and they said if you are running any eq that boosts the p/u signal, then 18v is required.

Curious, the Euro I have on my way to me has the tonepump, is it 2 volume or volume blend? May have to rewire it if no blend.
Also, this preamp works with passive pickups right? If I don't like the EMG P-J's I have a set of ancient Dimarzio (so old they say patent applied for on them) Model P+J pickups I might put in it if they would work, might sound more like the original NS-2 with Dimarzio pickups.

according to the spector site, tonepump works with passive or active p/u's
so you want to sell those emg's?

I'm picturing in my mind my Legend 4 BlackCherry with a BEM fretboard and WOW, that'd be gorgeous!!!

Lol!! I'm researching having the fingerboard removed and replaced with a maple one right now. I'm assuming the labor cost would be the same as I would have to supply the wood....so I'm thinking bird's eye maple would match the nice quilt top perfectly!! While I'm at it, I'm going to look into having the frets leveled really low...like the Plek system I've read so many things about. Maybe extravagant, but I want to have all the info I can.
I'll post clips of the DC's+OBP-3. I'm sure someone has already somewhere (PhatBasstard maybe?). The pot didn't ship today, hopefully I'll have it this week lol!

The haz is the classic Spector tone, personally I prefer the pump at 18v . It's got a little more bottom end imo than the haz. At 9v the pump distorts and growls like the haz, at 18 its somewhere in-between the haz and obp. You can also adjust the output of the pump to drive your pre just how you like it

I should be posting some more soon also. I put Dunlop Steels back on the Forte so I need to record them with the Haz and I have a set of EB Steel Slinkys on the way.

then that sounds more like what i might do to my bass. instead of getting another one at the moment, just upgrade mine

Funny story, when I first installed the Haz into the Forte and I played the first few notes after the install, I started making strange noises because it sounded so good
The same thing happened to me. I mean, THE EXACT SAME THING. I got a few notes out with the Haz and I was so filled with euphoria I was making strange noises. That's what happens when you find "that tone" that you have been after all your life. I kept trying to get there with amps and cabs. Go figure it was actually the bass I needed to change.
BTW Spector brethren. I'm been himming and hawing over which Spector "T bird" style to get. One minute I'm thinking Legend, the next I'm thinking Rex but after a few nights of sleep I'm thinking the Forte 4X is the ticket. Please let me know if you see one floating around cyberville for a good price. Thanks!
