My wife's been wanting to get back to London ever since she spent a semester there in college. (We also have friends in Bristol..and could make a little detour!) If I were to come home with a bass as well....I'd be down with that. :bassist:

Both sound great, the REX sounds more agressive and the Thumb can get a little deeper. Both are keepers. Thought about the tonepump, at $100 it seems like a real good deal, but haven't decided to go that route yet. I'm not sure what it would give me over the stock preamp other than maybe more volume and potential overdrive via a gain adjustment. The stock REX5 tone is just so good I hate to mess with it.
I probably will try the Cobalt strings once some of the early adopters come back with a few months of play time on them. EB strings have a tendency to die fast so I'll wait for others to give a longetivity update.
BTW there is a nice looking REX5 Holoflash at the Yonkers Guitar Center used site right now. Even if you're not normally a 5 string player you should look at it, the neck on the REX5 is incredibly comfortable, fast, narrow and thin. A perfect 5 string bass for 4 string players that want to ease into the 5 string world. And if you're a stage player with any kind of movement on stage, the Holoflash finish draws TONS of attention with the constant color changes. I'm not gigging out right now but everyone who sees this bass in my studio is completely taken back by how neat the finish is (and that's sitting right inbetween an incredible Alembic Essence 5A curley maple top and a Pedulla 5A flame maple vintage cherry burst buzz bass) that cost nearly 10 times what I paid for the REX. Go figure.

Guy mentioned he moved it due to not wanting to gig a bass that nice in the clubs he plays in (I feel the same way!), and two other TB'ers turned this bass around in a short time span before him which I find puzzling. It's like I look at this thing and I can't see anything wrong with it. I mean the only minor thing I could say is where the bottom wing meets the heel of the neck you can feel a little bit of a rise where they meet but it's certainly not noticeable from a visual standpoint.

I feel like I'm dating this hot chick that four other guys dumped in the last year and I can't see what's wrong with her LOL.
