I PM'd the guy. No real shots up yet but I probably will if I can get to it in time. I need something for drop B. I was actually gonna maybe do a ReBop or Legend but these don't come up all that often I've seen from me lurking around here before (the 435) so I'd like to snag it for that price.

A 5 string would be perfect for that
Any time I see songs in drop B (Slipknot tunes to that for a good amount of their songs,) I can play them very easily on my 5 string basses. Unless you just aren't a 5 string type of player.

You know it's funny bc that's what I'm using right now, is an Ibanez BTB Prestige 5 for that. However with the 19mm spacing, pretty much riding the low B is becoming a pain w/ the stretching and I have big mitts but still cramp up after a while.
I actually only really play 5'ers, but I've used an old Charvel 4 string for drop B before and really it just feels more comfortable with a 4 string and not having to reach as far to get that lowest note.
Why you talkin' me outta a Spector brah??
The flip side of that, is anything that's tuned higher than B I like having a 5 string so I can get down and reach those low notes. With drop B I'd be tuning the low B to F# and that is just too friggin' much!
So I'm eying that 435XL in the Classifieds... am I gonna have to throw down with any of you fools over that one??

I need to stay the hell out of there. Still...that sweet, sweet Forte 4 will be heading my way early next week...

I think you mis-understood me
I am not talking you out of a Spector at all......Only suggesting a Spector 5 string, haha. The low B on the Spector's is just amazing and I always refer to it as "the thunder." It's funny that you mention the Ibanez BTB. I had never played one before but when I tried the Sansamp RBI i bought in the store, that was the only 5 string they had so i gave it a shot. That 19mm spacing was definitely tough to get used to and i have large hands also.
Just so you know, I have my Rebop 5 tuned to G# on my low B string and it works great. What's another full step?
I am using a D'Addario .145 as my low B string but for F#, you would definitely want to go thicker than that. That string tends to get floppy fairly easily when tuning that low so you might want to consider something like a .174. You will definitely need to shave the nut down to accommodate it.

I just sold my Forte too! I already miss it, but am anxiously awaiting my custom NS-5H2JJ! ...only 4-5 more months! lol!

Do you know if the Hipshot Schaller M4 Detuner is a drop in replacement into a Spector? In this case a Kramer NS-2?

Yes. The only issue is sometimes you have to drill a new hole for the screw as some Schallers have the screw at the bottom of the tuner and some have it at the side. I believe if you have the Schallers with the side mount screw, the M4's screw hole should line up without any new drilling.

Thanks! I was looking at some new Euro basses and the have the screw below the tuner... but new USA models have them on the side... is there some logic to this?
The older Spectors with Schaller Tuners the M4's have the screw on the side. That is what the Kramer NS-2s and NS-2As came with.
The Newer Euros have Schaller Tuners but the Screw is on the bottom. (not sure what model Schaller this is)
The New USA models have Gotoh Tuners with the Screw on the bottom.
The Hipshot Schaller M4 Detuner I am almost positive will drop right into your NS-2.
