The older Spectors with Schaller Tuners the M4's have the screw on the side. That is what the Kramer NS-2s and NS-2As came with.

The Newer Euros have Schaller Tuners but the Screw is on the bottom. (not sure what model Schaller this is)

The New USA models have Gotoh Tuners with the Screw on the bottom.

The Hipshot Schaller M4 Detuner I am almost positive will drop right into your NS-2.

Oddly enough, my older Euro4 (early 2001) has the ones on the bottom.

And yes, unless something has changed recently, the M4 is correct for an NS2 and is a direct drop other than the possible screw hole issue.

It's funny that you mention the Ibanez BTB. I had never played one before but when I tried the Sansamp RBI i bought in the store, that was the only 5 string they had so i gave it a shot. That 19mm spacing was definitely tough to get used to and i have large hands also.

Just so you know, I have my Rebop 5 tuned to G# on my low B string and it works great. What's another full step? :) I am using a D'Addario .145 as my low B string but for F#, you would definitely want to go thicker than that. That string tends to get floppy fairly easily when tuning that low so you might want to consider something like a .174. You will definitely need to shave the nut down to accommodate it.

man now you've got me wondering lol... i guess it really would only be another half step down on that B (if i stayed w/ my modified tuning setup)... eh, ah well. imma bout to holler at Jaymi and see about nabbing his ReBop 4. zebrano top + DC pickups = :bassist::bassist: :D

Hi ! New here, and my first post... (finally)

I'm looking for this Spector, it seems to be an original Ch.R. made NS2, right ?
I love this basses, played some Euro and Korean, but never read about history, specs true the years and serial numbers.

I need a little help here:

1- Does anybody knows model and aprox. year of this bass ?
2- It´s Maple and Alder wings ? Not just a thin Maple veneer, right ?

Czech Republic ("Euro" generically) basses are never labeled "NS2".
Although I'm not exactly sure where the cutoff point is, I'm sure, by that serial number, that is a Euro4 from 2003. This would mean it has solid Maple body wings. Not the laminated wings that started in 2004 with the Euro LX series.
These Euro4 and Euro5 basses are the best of all the various Czech series basses IMHO. :D
I've owned and played them all.

I was the original owner of this bass. The ONLY reason I sold it is because I am playing 5 string exclusively in two projects, and it was literally just hanging for about two months unplayed. I'm seriously considering having Spector build me a 5 string version of the same bass.

You are going to love it. As I've said many times before, it's like a Jazz bass on steroids. It looks like a Spector, plays like a Spector, but the tone is a bit subdued from the typical EMG tone.......which is a good thing for many styles of music. I've even used this bass sitting in on a country gig and it sounded great.

Unfortunately, I'm down to two Spectors right now. I'm playing 5 exclusively, and the EMG DC tone just doesn't work in my current bands. I'm seriously considering a Coda 5.
