If no one has pointed it out , it's an EMG BT circuit for your preamp with Spector provided volume and balance pots. You can tell from the two white dip switches on the circuit board. Those allow you to adjust the center frequency for the treble knob. Go to the EMG site and download either the BTS or BTC system specs and it will explain what your two band preamp is capable of in terms of frequency range and also what 4 choices you have for picking a center frequency for your treble knob.

Beautiful bass! Congrats! If you ever want to liven it up, I'd definitely suggest sticking a pair of EMG40DCs in there to replace the passive Hzs. It may mean getting different volume and balance pots, but it won;t be a huge expense and well worth the incredible change in tone you'll experience.

I don't believe it has a balance pot? It appears to have two volume pots and two tone controls with center detents which means it has both both boost and cut.

I personally like those Hz's and with a TP like in my Rebop, it gets the sound I'm looking for. Maybe I'm just simple minded like my XXX's said?
Of course if any of them were still around I would be in diapers and sucking on my thumb!

NS 20005 arrived, I spent a couple of hours on it taking it apart and cleaning everything, however it was already fairly clean.
I was worried about it being heavy but it weighs 10 pounds, not light but not as heavy as my Euro5 was.
It's the only Spector that I have had that has the control cavity screw inserts and a recessed cover plus these basses have the neck stiffeners, Gotoh tuners and HZ pups and a strange looking preamp that looks as though it is only on one pot?
It sounds really good and it looks like I will be able to work with the fret lines and dots. My eyes see a fretted instrument but my hands know it is fretless so I get a little "hair lipped" occasionally.
I may put the Tone pump I got from Steve in it at some point but for now I'm just going to play it.
These are very nice basses and the quality is right there with all the other Spector's I have owned.

Look how neat that control cavity is, this bass was taken care of and it's definitely a virgin bass.

The knobs should just pull off...unless they are different than normal.

Yeah tony, they pull right off.

Some just pull off but others need to have the little allen screw loosened. Look at the knobs and see if there is a tiny hole on the side that a small allen wrench can fit into. If they have those, you will need to lossen the screw and the knobs will just pop off.

I think you are right, lima guy said it probably was also and it may not be an integral part of the pot it might only be sitting there, I did not look closely.

My NS-95 had that same pre, BTC.

Well, as of last night, I'm the new (3rd) owner of a tobacco burst Rebop, circa 2004. Picture attached as proof (Sorry about the quality - it was taken w/ a camera phone as that's all I have while I'm out of town)

Sorry, but I know the requirements have changed to join the club since the beginning - I found Thread '1' of the Spector club, but I'm not going to read through all of them to find out what new members currently have to do...lol.

Thanks to Scooterbass1 who delivered (quite literally!) a beautiful bass to me. It was a pleasure to deal w/ a fellow TB'er in person, and we were able to talk about the bass a bit.

About the bass... it's had a pickup upgrade...to EMG 35 p/j config (Mike brought the original HZ's, too). But it's still got its original non-adjustable tone pump, too.

He mentioned that if he were keeping it, he'd have gone with the USA 9v (Haz?) pre. I've also read that the Aguilar OBP-2 is a good choice (and about $150 cheaper, I believe?). Body wood is alder, and it's fairly light (7lbs).

Opinions on best pre for the 35s ? I'm going for one that will cut as well as boost. Doesn't have to be a 3-band; 2 is fine for this bass. But I'd like the greatest variation of (usable!) tone possible.
Oh, and don't forget my number!

Just realized that maybe this post belongs more in the pickups folder, but with all the resident Spector-philes here, figured someone might have been down this road with this combination and could save me some trial/error.

Really nice bass...a real joy to play...set up just how I'd do it myself. Love the feel of the neck. Wish the neck pickup was a little farther north, but I will try and adjust my right hand a bit (I've spent a lot of time w/ Fender Jazz-type basses).

Congratulations on a very nice Spector ReBop! Welcome to our family! Your bass life will never be the same.
