I tried this briefly at BPL and had the good fortune of meeting Quintin. It's sounds amazing, and you do get more 'real estate' to see the woodgrain. It's a stunning bass for sure.

I remember starting to read some conversations here a few weeks back that sounded like the Tone Pump isn't just boost. What was the conclusion of those discussions? Anyone know?
It certainly seems like a boost only to me.

The NS-5 MM now has a little sister
Got this beauty of a USA NS-2J from TB'er ubnobnar this week. It's everything I expected, basically the feel and playabilty of NS-5MM with a different sound. All I can say is that there is just nothing like a USA Spector. The notes just jump off the board and the instrument does not hinder you in any way, shape, or form. I've got a few great sounding basses, but these two USA Spectors are just the cream of the crop for me. I know most of you know what I mean when I say the notes are just so lively, but it's just so hard to explain to somebody who has never experienced something quite like it.

Given those specs, I would estimate that flat = about 40% on the treble control, and about 10% on the bass control.

I have never played one I liked...
i have to try a thumb once. it's nothing like spector and definitely has a voice of it own. theyre built solid and very different, interesting sound. i like the thumb, but other than that, they can keep everything else.
I'm with Jaymi on this one, and not because of the tone - I've heard some great sounding ones. For me, it's the necks - I've never felt one that I really liked.
i think it depends on the year of the ones you get. i cant remember quite exactly but i know for a period until 2010 i believe, they were baseball bat sized. from what ive read recently is theyve smalled them down quite a bit. more of the c shape and not the d shape.

Yep! btw, loved the last pic of your basses - the inlay stickers really pop against the dark grain on the body, and looks classy.

your bass is due back to our shop by the end of this week from our local gloss finish guy. so we should be able to assemble and set it up the week of
Nov 12th.

+1!I really, really like this color the more I look at it. It is so weird that Spector Basses make you appreciate colors on a Bass that you never thought of choosing on any other Bass.

Good to hear everyone's fine and hope JoAnn heals well.Yes. Jo Ann, the office manager who handles packing and shipping things bought online hurt her hand and it's in a cast. So she's not able to pack things like she usually does.
But everyone is fine.
If the Forte 4 that I had with P/J pups and OBP 2 @18V is any example, it'll sound awesome but probably not USA 9V circuit awesome.

Definitely depends on the year. I've had some really nice necks on Thumbs in the past, but one was a custom shop and the other was a 2007 5-string. The tone, although really cool for some types of music, just doesn't do it for me like Spectors do. I do like the bell brass frets, though.

yeah it would definitely be for certain things, but man that tone on it is so unique. definitely cool, but not spector cool
