Make no mistake, I've recently gone through the history of the USA 9v circuit and it was designed by Stuart. The creation of the "NS-2 sound" was something Stuart worked on for over a year.

The circuits are made, one at a time, by hand. Haz Labs location is pretty far inland from the coast in NY, and I haven't heard that there was any damage there.

But for now, there's a shortage of NS-2 circuits... if circuits come in, unless there's enough to fill the orders that are waiting for circuits, they won't be made available for sale in the store.

If you've already paid for one, you WILL get your circuit. The orders will be filled in the order in which they were taken.

So I know it sounds like... well, like they're not ever going to send you your circuit. But they will.

My new NS-2 is waiting for one to come in too. So I'm in the same boat you are.

This is bumming me out. I am not loving the tonepumps in my Euro 4LX and 435. Nothing wrong, just have a feeling the US 9v would make me happy!!!

Now, I'm hesitant to drop all that cash not knowing how long it will take.

I have to admit that my biggest frustrstion is the lack if a center detent on the tonepump. Makes no sense to me at all.

couldn't you just replace the pots? that would save you some serious coin

I had a USA 9 volt preamp on order for the Ian Hill since August, but since I just sold it, I canceled the order so everyone in line behind be just moved up a spot ;).

I called HazLabs last Thursday, They have the 9 Volt Haz out of my Kramer NS-2. He said that he had finished repairing my preamp last Friday before the storm, but after the UPS pickup. Then the storm hit Monday, they were closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and when I talked to him Thursday they didn't have any damage, but they had no power. They were told it might be 2-3 weeks until they have power, which means he can't run my credit card until the power comes back on, which means no Kramer Haz for 3-4 weeks.:crying: Luckily Steve (He's so awesome, really...) hooked me up with a cheep EMG preamp I can put in it until it get here.

JPS might be able to comment on this, but my understanding is that they have to wait for some of the parts to come in to them to put the preamps together because some of the components are not commonly made anymore, do I have that right Patrick?

I'll have to stay un-magical then. :)

Every time I play a 100 E on a 34" scale bass it just feels loose. When I try to pick fast against it there's just no resistance.

Ultimately I'm aiming for about 40-42 lbs. of tension on the E, so 105 does the trick.

As I read more about the Haz shortages, I've been wondering: should Stuart design a new 9v preamp for his US Spectors using components more commonly available today? I know that's likely a tall and time-consuming order, but if HazLab was to go out of business, what then?

I suppose they could just roll with EMG or Aguilar preamps, but I have a feeling that wouldn't go over as well.

I'm un-magical too. Every time I get a bass it has light gauges on it and I play them for a few days I'm ready to switch them out. I guess it depends on what your tunings are, but even at E the heavy gauges sound better too me.

I replaced all strings on my basses with 40-100/120 and LOVE them!

Having said that, I just got hired for a gig in a couple of weeks and the band plays everything 1/2 step down. Aaaggghhhhh!

Might have to go a bit heavier on one of my basses or it might be like playing rubber bands.

here is a visual... it sits about an inch higher on me than where I use to where my bass.... I'm pretty use to it now. I'm 6' tall.



since that video, my stage show has really been free'd up. I think the straps have helped me feel more comfortable.
