Very cool! He has some pretty crazy freakin basses in his shop! I try to check in every few weeks to see what he has coming in! ...I thought about going out there and playing the red one, but it was gone before I could check it out! :ninja: :bassist:

I still want to check out the caramel burst...one reason I haven't is because I'm scared that I will fall in love and not be able to afford it! :bawl:

Sorry I snagged it before you got to check it out. If I end up playing in the TN area, or if you come by NYC I'll let you try her out.

Glad to see you got your hands on another NS-2. :bassist:

How is the neck (front to back) compared to the previous one you had?

Thanks Sam, and congrats on your new red NS-2, its a looker for sure!

From what I remember about the orange flame one, this is about the same, maybe a hair thinner. The volute on the back is not as prominent as I remember it being on the Orange one. I don't feel like there's a big difference.

The red one is nice, I made a offer on the Carmel one earlier. Waiting for a reply. Were you able to get them to come off the price any? 2700 is a bit steep for the brown.

Yeah not much. SAS likely got the best of me. I paid a little less for my previous Orange NS-2 that was in much better condition. Overall I'm very happy with it though. This is the color I really wanted, and this one is a bit lighter weight.

It looks great on my Red NS-2. Granted, you dont see the grain as much on mine as you do on Jeff's:

Yummmmm...is that an ebony FB? That is sweet!

I have a Morley Dual Bass Wah that I will practically give you if you want. The B3k is going no where. I used to use pedals and I had more than both guitarist together. When I played in a cover band I had to get the exact tone of every player I covered. I am anal like that. I have been working in a few projects and my band now is all original so I get to find my own tone now.:bassist::bassist:

Cool, thanks. I am a huge Geezer Butler and Rex Brown fan so I feel like I have to own a wah since both of them use it a good amount. I was playing along to "13 Steps to Nowhere" in Jammit and didn't realize that one of the parts was bass with a wah pedal so that gave me the itch. Plus, the into to "N.I.B." is a wah fest as well.

I always told myself that as well but after hearing the isolated tracks from Jammit, I cannot believe how many players use overdrive to get some dirt into their tone.

I am about to place an order for a B3K myself just because watching all of the videos that people posted on Youtube, you can nail some serious tones with it. I remember Lee posted some clips a few months ago also and I was just floored.

I was surprised as well! Especially the Eddie Jackson stuff. I knew he used a pick in the studio and fingers live, but I had no idea how distorted he was in the studio. It doesn't sound that way at all in the mix... in fact, it sounds better in the mix than it does solo (IMO). Jammit really helps a lot (with backing vocal harmonies too).

The B3K is another one I owe to Lee. I had given up on looking and just used my good old, 15 year old Sansamp Bass Driver for some overdrive dirt, but the B3K gets you everything from a little dirt to full bore square wave wall rattling goodness. It's the first brand new pedal I've ever bought at full price and it was worth every penny. I will have to back it off a bit and adjust once the 9v USA circuits arrive and get installed in my basses, but I'll always be grateful that Lee got me to check one out. It was the last piece missing from my pedalboard signal chain and it just made everything I needed good distortion for absolutely perfect. And by itself, it;s gopt a ton of tones in there. You could experiment with it for hours and never get tired or find a single bad tone in it. And it's built like a brick sh!t house. And is also surprisingly small so it doesn't take up a lot of board real estate.

Patrick! Good God! You have to run the deluxe fuzz into the envelope filter and tell me if you get a good dirty, square-wavy synth sound. I'm curious b/c the MXR envelope only has a "down" direction for it's sweep. Many filter pedals you can choose up or down, but MXR it's just a standard down. That was the only thing that kept me away from it. But I will say that it has excellent tone for the one direction it does go in. Yummy stuff.

Most of my pedals came in!

I'm still waiting on a couple more... but that's OK. I'm going to make the neighbors hate me this weekend!

I couldn't agree more. For example "Jet City Woman" is very overdriven when isolated but doesn't seem that way in the final mix at all. Ahhh, the wonders of the studio.

Pedal day, always a fun day. Only one that your missing is the Carbon Copy, I love that delay.

TOTALLY!

Yes. Carbon Copy, Phase 90 Script and the new Analog Bass Chorus which will be available next month and I'm set.

I want to play with the Pork Loin pedal some too.

And I was a little bummed... the Dunlop DC Brick is being redesigned and the new ones will be available really soon. So my MXR hookup instructed me to wait.

So I've got a small fortune in 9v batteries in these babies!!!

:D

I will let you know!

What I'm interested to see is if I can get the envelope filter and the blow torch together to give me a Muse - "Hysteria" tone. I've been interested in that tone for a while. It's so synth sounding... but kick butt at the same time. :D

And since that's almost like a guitar riff... I jam on that bass line. Only difference is I play it with a pick.

Let us know how the Phase 90 sounds, I have a Boss phaser that I'm not very happy with, looking for something warmer and less "fake" sounding, more like what you hear on the bassline of Stranglehold by Ted Nugent.

I hear the phase 90 is really good on guitar, but I am hesitant to buy a pedal with only one knob.

For me the Muse Hysteria tone only required an old russian-made Big Muff fuzz and a little amp tweaking, ymmv though. The Blow Torch is a very versatile pedal so it should get you there.

I'll say this about you Patrick - you don't go half-a$$ed on anything you purchase! Congrats, and enjoy exploring uncharted sonic realms this weekend.

Actually I got a really good deal because I'm going to be featuring these pedals in upcoming Spector Tone Series videos.

The two I filmed with Nicki Tedesco two weeks ago feature the Hot-Hand - Source Audio pedals... something she's really into.

I mentioned to the guys at Dunlop during BPL that I wanted to get a hookup for pedals so I can help promote them and they were really open to it. And they treaded me right. So I'm pretty stoked about it.

BTW, I just ordered one of the new Electro-Harmonix Talking Pedals - primairly for my guitar rig - but I definitely plan on trying it out with the Spectors. This YouTube demo indicates some serious mayhem potential... :bassist:

OK. This sounded like someone torturing a robot... like some goofy stuff you'd hear in Star Wars that the Jawas were doing or Jabba the Hut or something.

Until 6:20 into the video.

Then the potential for this pedal came out and it sounded really, really cool.

Moog MF-103 Phaser - the baddest phaser ever built, for bass or guitar.... And more knobs than you can shake a stick at.

I owned an original EH talking pedal more than 20 years ago, and it was one of the baddest pedals ever. I'm hoping the reissue is even 1/2 as good. I think the way to run it will be through the fx loop, so I can blend in some straight bass & keep the bottom end intact.

I want a Forte 4...

Seems to me I remember someone (Sponsor) giving % off...

I was even quoted a price, but that email was long ago & I don't have it. Sadly my chewing-gum-like brain didn't retain who sent it.
Dammit.

Not that I want to give up my Euro 4LX....

...but where's the place to find the best deal on a Forte4...?

The 10-band EQ and the Bass + DI are two amazing critters.

Honestly with those two you can really get some additional tone clarity out of your basses.

I've been able to get more articulation of both the Pearl and my NS-4 with it.

So I'm pretty jazzed about these two pedals alone. I mean if you want just bass tone and you're not looking for any sort of tone modification, these two pedals are great. I think I'm probably going to make these two "always on".

And can anyone PM me and recommend a good pedal board that travels well? I'll have to lug this around when I film videos for Spector.
