On the topic of fretless, I believe I am close to ordering my fretless build. Was going to wait until the others are done but with that wait I want to get it in in case we start tracking stuff for our next record later this year.

So basically I'll be modeling it after Colin Edwin's fretless that PJ spec'd out for him with a few differences. It'll be a bolt-on with the dual MM pickups, OBP-2, ebony unlined fretboard and the Hipshot A bridge - black hardware. Differences would be it'll be a 5-string (natch) and it'll be green - probably really close to John's NAMM NS-5XL. Only thing I'm undecided on is whether or not to gloss it. Opinions?

Nice! I think that would be a really sweet bass. That is a tough one though since I am a fan of both gloss and matte finishes. I have to say, Colin's bass really looks sweet with the gloss finish.

I forgot they had this video so after watching it again, I almost want to suggest gloss but of course that is an added charge :)

I think I may go for it. I'm really curious to see how at green looks under gloss.

Go to bestbassgear.com and read up on that ACG preamp....it's a different concept of pre. The only one I know that has real experience with it is brother Ho!

Thanks BrotherbassJ. Today I will be enjoying the return of my Cadillac green JA-R. It has the ACG-02 preamp. An amazing preamp. It's Achilles heel is that it has too many possibilities. You really have to spend time figuring it out, getting to know its sweet spots. I have used the ACG-02 with Delano PJ JMVC. Without doubt, one of the best sounds you will ever hear, especially for rock metal. Anything agressive. It's dub reggae tone is sublime. I'm not a slapper, but I can assure anyone who is that it would excel at that style. In a word, versatile and unique. Ok two words.

Well, it is going to be New Bass Day next week. Andy's (Bunkaroo) "Faux Forte" (black stain Euro 435LX) is heading my way! I think my plan will be to get two new preamps for my 2 435's. It will be a good chance to try to out in essentially identical basses. I just wish I could get that darn US9V, but I'm afraid I'll just have to look at other options.

I'll be very interested to hear the difference! I thought the trimpot TonePump sounded great in it but who knows something else might be even better.

Many moves happening for me at the moment. The stable should look a little different in the next month or two. Gotta get that fretless deposit and take care of some other things as well.

And just as a heads up here since I've already mentioned it to a couple guys, but there's a *chance* the black Kramer NS-2 I got from Jeff last month is going to hit the open market. I'm working on getting it back into the hands of one of its longtime owners, but if that falls through, I will of course offer it up here first. I'm also in the process of getting another Spector back into the hands of its original owner. Tough to let any Spector go but in the long run it makes sense.

Also, if anyone knows anyone who wants a good deal on the like new Stingray 5HH I've been trying to move, let me know. I'm trying not to lose my shirt on it, but if someone here wants it I can try and cut a deal.
