Sent you a brief PM.........save for a used Rebop....that's my thoughts......

EDIT-I will post more........if you go through these threads, you will see that we all get bitten and go through many basses to reach the final goal of a USA or Euro SPector. I would save as much as you can and avoid all the upgrading etc, etc. And start with a rebop or used Euro.......good luck, trust me......its worth doing this way! I've personally gone through over 10 Spectors in a short period of time to find my favorite......and I'm not even sure I'm there.

I came across a mint shape like new Fender Mark Hoppus signature bass and took the plunge.. Paid $300 CDN for it and feel like I came out on top, the seller just wasn't using it and could use the cash. did a bit of a setup on it last night and its already playing and sounding great. The only problem is A, its not a Spector, and B, I now want a 4 string Spector

I know man, and it's killing me!

I play 5's in my band dropped to A and just really don't have a use for a nice expensive high quality instrument, which is really why I was happy to come across this Hoppus Jazz. If I could've found a nice NS2a for the price I would've much rathered pick up another Spector, but I do have major plans to order a custom build US B.O Or Euro 5 in the next year, very excited for that.


Still ready to jump on a nice rebop or NS2A for the price, though I really don't need another bass. Could always sell the hoppus to fund the 2A, right?

I have a question for you. I am in the market for a Legend 5 in Slate Grey. I have the opportunity score a new one for a good deal. How are these? Do they sound good? What's your take.

Hi Shaun! My first Spector bass was a BlackCherry Legend 4 classic. I had it for over 3 years. They are solid built basses. Fit and finish excellent. I replaced the graphite string nut with a brass nut, awesome difference in sustain and it had more grit. Highly recommended! I liked the SSD pickups just fine. EMG make these especially to Stuart Spectors specs. I bought several other basses 4&5 string while I owned the Legend. I planned on keeping it because it was my first Spector but I found out that prefer 5 strings best and the legend was not being played, I needed more $$$ for buying a USA Spector Forte 5. So I sold it. There are a lot of Spector endorsed artist that only play Legends on stage internationally. They are in the Pro line of Spector basses. They have a really nice bark/bite to them. The 9V Jr. TonePump is a really good preAmp as well. There are some that have swapped out the preAmp for the full Trim Tonepump, only a $99.00 swap out new. Sometimes you can get the Trim Tonepump for $49-69.00 on here that people sell from a swap out. Good luck! Feel free to ask any question on here. Someone will help you out.

About $160 cheaper for a new one. This would be my main bass. It was this or a Ibanez ATK805E.

Don't be afraid to buy a used Legend off GC's used Spector page. They sell for $199-399.00 on there.
