No doubt, I choose not the do the cover band thing anymore, but if needed my basses can always earn me a little money and they are paid for. Money goes fast and it takes a lifetime to get our dream basses sometimes.

I think Lars was digging it a little too much! Kinda Awkward IMO
HA,Im from a little town called RVA,and know a said member well enuff from 1 of our better known metal bands who,well may have told me last year from touring w/them that there is a side of Lars that sometimes did party till dawn,scareface style still... Lars is kinda "rockstar",we can leave it at that..
But ya,thanks for that painful reminder Korn and LB covered Metallica with theyre NU twist on that classic,lol!
Yikes,scratching records and whining breakdowns? All during one of Metallica's best ballad ish tunes from such an epic album....Jk,I actually appreciated the entertainment,its been awhile since ive heard ol Limp B,thanks Nick!

Aggie OBP 3 VS. USA 18volt Haz?
WAY different or equally good tone?

Equally good preamps, but different animals. All preamps have a "set defined voice" at their flat point. I was watching a video on youtube recently comparing the MEC 3 band pre to the OBP-3 3 band pre, the MEC has a scooped voice, whereas the OBP-3 has a more mid present voice, look it up for reference, I might try to find it and post it here for everyone, just so they can hear the COOL difference the OBP-3 presents

Ill NEVER get tired of drooling over this AMAZING work of art...As one of the few 5string only guys here,THIS must be how the other half lives,LOL. Best unique quilt ive seen on a NS5XL,actually THIS bass and many of you guy's Forte models changed my mind about the matte look completely. I had to have one,and thanks to BrotherBassJ,I now do...Pics coming soon!
John,I know we dont know each other but do you have this beauty set up at 18volts or 9volts?
Im sure youve covered that when you scored it,but im too lazy to dig up that info,so many threads to go back thru!
Thanks man!!...this bad boy is maybe the Holy Grail of Spector 5 strings IMO.

Seth, take a better look at John's bass, same controls as yours, 18 volts......when you see a USA NS body style with 3 knobs, you can almost be POSITIVE that it is the 18 volt USA/spector circuit

I think Jamie told me the 18vt mid control will be available in ruffly 6months? I get alot of smooth mids from rolling my treble back on the Euro5lx and the Alder back slices on my bass dont hurt for more mid response too.(I think) Who knows,i may just want a mid knob because non of my Spec's have had one yet.
If I had one and didnt think it was welcome in the Pre's mix,Id maybe UNDERSTAND why most of the Spector tones I like never had a MID knob,lol..

I said that Coop has posted here and made that announcement and I was hopeful, however.......seeing is believing so I can wait, but thanks Mike for keeping us all posted!

Yep, as an owner of both brands, hate to tell you but THAT particular bass you were drooling over is in fact a WARWICK and that bassist is endorsed by said company...............

2 problems here, the first is a band hacking a great song and second that aint no Spector, its a copycat.

Yes, but not the ONE you might be referring to as the fabled..........that would be the USA 9 volt circuit which is Spector designed and Hazlab is contracted to build them. And yes, up until about the last year, most of us called them the HAZ preamp, some still do........we have adopted the title "US9V" for them now........however, on the board itself they are almost all tagged HAZ.......that is the preamp of Spector fame that has been EXTREMELY hard to obtain individually/seprately from a bass this past year.......

The Haz is the street name for the Spector USA 9v preamp. That's the famous preamp they use in the USA NS-2 models. It's not for sale separately right now because of production supply problems. I will be for sale again someday when those problems get sorted out.

I don't know if anyone has ever successfully added a VMC to the 18v preamp.

I know that I floated this idea some pages back but has anyone actually ever seen a fretless Forte in the wild? I was perusing the Spector site before, and noticed that you can actually order one in either lined or unlined. Hmmm...that knowledge gives me much to ponder today (instead of working).
