Why thank you:) No vids yet...I really need to learn how to use the iPad interface...now I'll have to wait for my new iPad 4Gen. 4LTE, 128GB to arrive, I ordered today, it's on it's way already. :D (Now for ios7 this Fall) This iPad will be totally for music apps, sheet music, recording and to use as remote controller/mixer on stage.

Black, black black!! It's so classy. The chrome goes well with the strings, but that and the gold both clash too much with the fretboard and pickups I feel. Black = Class here.

Additionally I'd go with Gold with a maple neck, or chrome with a... silvery neck :D haha.

In related matters, I'm planning to document the hardware swap with pictures for both the bridge and tuners, though mostly the latter. I wanted to keep the existing screw hole mounts from the Schaller M4s, which are an earlier style that they don't make anymore, with the mount on the bottom. Think 6:00 as you are facing the neck, rather than the offset 5:00 or 7:00 on the later M4s. PJ wrote me a short novella on the various incarnations of the M4s over the years but the long/short of it is that Schaller doesn't make them anymore in this style. Unless you can find new old stock somewhere, you're kind of SOL.

For that reason, I decided to switch to a set of Gotoh GB7s, which can be sourced easily from places like Warmoth for about $13 each. The GB7s are actually the stock tuners that Spector uses on all of the USA series NS basses. My thinking is that if they're good enough for a USA NS2/4/5/6, they're sure as heck good enough for my Euro. A set of high quality sealed tuners, readily available with the mount config all ready to go, in the correct color (black) for $60/shipped? You bet. That was kind of a no-brainer.

The rub is that the posts on the Gotoh's require just a bit more room so I'll be doing a little surgery to the pegholes with the new reamer I just ordered from StewMac. (Cue 5th grade boy humor and Beavis voice....heh heh, you said "reamer") :D

Anyways, I want to capture the process in case anyone else is contemplating comparable mods. I will also offer up the use of the reamer to anyone who needs it for the tuner mod (snicker snicker). It wasn't cheap, and I'm a firm believer in using the right tool for the right job. Sure, the no-name brand reamer from Home Depot would probably work but it's not like you have a lot of margin for error on an already-finished headstock.

Tool, reamer, screw hole. This is like shooting fish in a barrel. I'm having trouble suppressing the giggling. :D
