Todd is great! You picked up that NS-2? Sweet! I saw that on his website and thought it would be a good one. Congrats, you're getting quite the collection.
I was going to test drive the stuff he had there from his collection and we also pulled the Black Cherry from the wall, I had nobody there to talk me out of taking it with me and my original intention was to figure out a build to work on together but now I'm going to have to hold off on the build because I fell in love with #676!
He also adjusted #813 for me while I was there after listening to my playing technique and while he was doing that he left me with the Spector 30th and when he came back into the room is when he said that I have played it the longest...here is pictures of the 20th and 30th basses.

You're really making me feel I need to drive out there to pick up my builds so he can adjust the set up for me. Congrats again!
He has a passion for these basses, a friendship and kindness for the person he is with as well as a trust to hand them something from his collection. I recommend the drive if you can.

Awesome that Todd let you play his 20th & 30th Anniversary basses.
I told him that I was lost in the design, wanted to watch my fingers travel the necks but wound up looking at the beauty...killer basses!
FWIW, although not a fan of the Dunlops (Schallers forever!), I have also moved the bottom strap anchor to the middle on every Spector I've ever owned, just like yours is now. I feel they balance much better in this location and have never been able to figure out why Spector off-sets it.
If the hole bothers you, get the appropriate sized, flush head wood screw and simply plug it. I used a black one on my recently acquired Forte 4 and, from a distance, you almost can't tell it's there.
Sorry man I'm not going to "create" another hole in the bass and plug the old one up with a wood screw. Not gonna happen when the strap pin location is absolutely in the perfect position stock for balance. Spector offsets it because it balances perfectly for the average persons body.
I've moved the strap button on just about every non-Spector I own, except my vintage Rick don't want to destroy the value on that baby.
It makes them balance better, a little bit of neck dive relief, and the strap hangs a bit more comfortably.
I guess if you wear it up high (my buddy plays a 9-string so he's got the thing practically in his armpit) you wouldn't want the lower strap button in the Spector position

Roy definitely seems like he is a great teacher and I don't think you can go wrong if you pick him for lessons. Not all of us are as lucky as you to have so many good teachers locally to you
. He takes the time to explain things well and you can always refer to the book too. He lays out the lessons very well and without him being there, it can be kind of tough since I am sure everyone will react different to each lesson. I need to factor it into my practice time more since I can definitely seeing it helping my playing.

Yeah I'm definitely lucky to have so many great teachers locally, that was one of the main reasons I chose to move to Nashville. Unfortunately I haven't been able to take advantage of it until now, but I plan on making the most of it before life moves me on to the next town.
I can see how the pacing would be much more personalized in one-on-one lessons. Everything I've heard about Roy is that he is a pretty great teacher. My mindset right now is to learn technique and fretboard theory from Roy and throw in a lesson or two with Regi each month for a different approach to theory and conceptualization. ...Dave Fowler, a fellow Spector lover, is also a local guy who has two feet firmly planted in the music business and often gives clinics/lessons!
...did I mention I'm lucky to be living around so many great players?!?
SWEEEEET! I've always loved the Anniversary Spectors!!! ...I also love the fact that Todd is willing to bring them out for others to enjoy!! ...I'd probably have them under lock and key in a climate controlled glass case!

This is one of the reasons I am afraid of making a trip to Tulsa...Todd would lull me into a Spector-fueled haze and then I'd end up leaving with a hefty credit card bill!

The fact that almost all other manufacturers don't offset it (including boutique builders on Spector's level, or even aurguably above), seems to make the statement that it's the "perfect" balance for the "average person's" body somewhat dubious.
I guess I'm a freak of nature (well...some women have said....

I've worn most of those "others" and I'm glad Spector doesn't follow them like a lemming because that's what Leo did. Every bass I've ever tried had some sort of a balance issue. FOR ME, Spector is the only one that got it right. Guess I just got lucky.
I'm not trying to say NOT to mod your bass. Heck, do what you need to do, but if it ain't broke...
Didn't get the input issue on my Euro fixed so I had to play last nights show with a rented SR505. What a different bass.
I really liked the ibanez but missed the contoured body, gloss finish (really didn't like the natural on the back of the neck or the body) and the tonepump! Really wishing I had a backup Spector right now!
It's looking like we got booked for next friday at a local place, should be lots of fun, hoping I can get this jack all sorted out so I can play my Spector again!
On another note, I did get some tone compliments, so its not like the ibby didn't do well, I just didn't like playing it nearly as much.

I'm a Dunlop fan, used to use Schaller's till I had one break, and I like the C clip over the nut. Only mod I do is install the flush mounts.
I have a very hard time deciding to play my Spector or my Ibanez. Both have great ergos both sound good in different ways. The Ibanez is more flexible by far but there are nights, and gigs, where I don't need to touch the EQ anyway. I'm the opposite with finish though. I love unfinished wood, don't care much for the gloss.
You might give Todd a call, Guitar House (918) 835-6959 he has a full line store and can probably get the part you need.
I just couldn't dig it, my hand arm just wasnt sliding on the finish like I'm used to and I only picked it up an hour before the show so I didn't really have any time to mess with it. I ran the EQ relatively flat with my Sansamp doing most of the work and it sounded great all night.

I'm actually in the works of ordering a USA 5 from Todd actually, just waiting for the right time to drop the cash. I was planning on the unfinished neck but I'm kinda second guessing it now considering I didn't really like the Ibanez. Can anyone comment on the USA B.O necks? I'll have to talk to him about the jack, too. I'm hoping I can take care of it myself, but I cant seem to figure out a way to disassemble the input jack at all, and theres no access to it from the electronics cavity it seems.
