last night, first time ever to play my spector performer. plugged it into some beatup hartke with two 6s and a 15. then split di into the house. i also use a darkglass b7k. my god. i was cutting thru the mix. (btw i play in a 2 guitar setup metal band) man it sounded awesome. been a long time i felt happy with my live sound. even pur guitarists got surprised. i cant even imagine the poossibilities if i play higher end spectors. hehe:)

well it seems like around here, if you dont have the higher end spectors, no one cares what you have. just seems like an observation ive noticed around here as of the past few threads. im contemplating disappearing from here. :eyebrow:

In with some Spector and DT swag! Group photo in progress:bassist:

Even simple upgrades will work. Adding the Spector 18v and P/DC's to my Rebop 5 took away my G.A.S. for a US 5 or even a Euro 5 for that matter.

I hope it isn't taken that way. Of course we ooh and ahh over the exotic tops and stuff, but all are welcome and respected. One of the best things about the non US models is how each offers great value at their price point.

its not even so much as that. yes i have the only ns94 in the club, that i know of, but that's not what bugs me. it's just a general context of just even replying to something, someone, etc., it's like wgas with what i have. im just a person who could probably afford a euro, even a usa if i wanted to break my family. :hiding: but i dont. i play with what i find to be a good spector and i love it. i just find it very demeaning and insulting that if im not playing a euro or above, no one cares what i say. so that's why i just quickly scan through the thread and dont really say anything anymore, until now. i feel like this club is getting lost in the "whose pecker is bigger" contest. maybe its me or has it gone that way? i know all spectors are beautiful and are insanely fatastic basses, but when someone puts something up for you guys opinion to listen or give criticism and maybe one person says anything, then you get irritated. i think to myself, "i bet if i had a usa or a euro, i'd get tons of replies".
but that's not the case. so i guess it is what it is and there's nothing i can say to change anything, but as all lovers of spector basses, we should all try to encourage each other and compliment or criticize each other to get the absolute best out of our basses and sounds. that's the spector family i joined. but it seems to somehow got lost somewhere along the way and quite frankly, i really dont like the way things are now. on to your regular programming, i guess. like it or not, i just had to voice the way i feel to you guys.

I haven't had a chance to reply to everything in the thread and it certainly isn't my intention to make it seem like we only talk US builds. I fully believe all the Spectors owned by members here are great instruments - I just haven't had a chance to ever play all the models they make so when someone is talking about a Legend for instance, I don't feel I have anything I can contribute to the conversation.

As far as the thread being some kind of pissing contest, I don't get that from it. I see that several guys including myself have been fortunate to buy their dream basses this year. I know I've stated this previously - my recent barrage of pics of US basses must seem like I'm just going nuts, but with the exception of the Coda, this was a plan I had for this year based on some favorable financial realities for me in the past 12 months that are not guaranteed to last. So I made sure I got these basses ordered when I could. I don't anticipate placing another US build order for quite some time unless I move one first which is very unlikely.

IMHO... This is the most caring, helpful, supportive, and informative club I know of. Someone sells a bass, they alway have a "club" price. Someone swaps out their pre, it's up for grabs at a steal of a price. And if they change out their hardware, they give it to another member who needs it.

Well said Guys. +1

I too am in a very fortunate position to be able to put in for two USA builds. I had to stop playing music for a living 18 years ago and even though I've found success in IT not a day goes by that I don't miss having music as my only job and passion. I've worked hard and learned another career starting a age 39 and now I'm treating myself to my dream basses. But the biggest bonus of all is finding this club to share it all with.

If I have in any way contributed to your current view of this club I sincerely apologize.

Yeah, I think its a fantastic club as well...I didn't mean to pick a scab by the way. The support here in the Spector Club is amazing, especially during Chris Loe's battle with Leukemia. I have been here a long time...#75...sold all my Euro's, kept my NS-2A's and NS-2C's....nothing sounds like a Spector!

Phat, Which basses are current family members?
Currently the Legend 6 with the gold hardware (Did you notice although both bubinga, there are two? ;)).
This is an older model that seems to be better made than the newer one (black hardware) I had.
(Much better fretwork, BTW). Updated with trim Tone Pump and EMG DC's.
This one made me sell the poplar burl Euro 6 LX pictured.

Also, Euro4 updated with trim Tone Pump and D-tuner.
This one became my new #1 and made me sell the (red) Kramer NS2. It's THAT good.

Finally, the Forte 4.
Recently updated with a trim Tone Pump.
Todd Cooke had Spector drop ship this to me in trade for the Tim Gaines (Stryper) NS2JJ I stumbled on when out in Los Angeles.
I needed a bass to tune to C Standard for all the recent Rock songs that seem to be using that (or Drop C) tuning these days.

That's it. I don't collect.
I just buy and sell as I need for what ever I'm doing at the time.
Probably will pick up a fretless sooner or later here.

Phat, didn't I sell you a bass years ago? I seem to remember buying or selling something to/from you several years ago back when I was here as Harderman?
I've bought and sold a bunch of basses here but not for at least a few years, but I seem to remember something.

those SSD pups will cut through guitars like a pissed off mother. Thats why I bought my Legend

hang in here man, I understand your frustration. I felt the same way about the us 9v haz circuit. But GAS calms down, players like Lee, for instance, have discovered that Euro LX with a TP can really slay. I favor my Czech made bass but my #2 is a korean made NS2A and I love it, my 5er is a 2000/5 (korean) and I own a LegendX (korean). I don't think I will ever buy a US built Spector, I don't see the need to spend that kind of money when the "level" of bass I own all kill it live and in the studio.
Thank you sir, just waiting for the buckle rivets to come in and she's done.
HURRY!!

I don't comment on everything either. I don't care about where your bass was made lol. Hang in there and rock out with your... um... spector out :bassist:
