So while my NS2A is with Mike Lull getting a good set-up I've been playing my Legend 5 lately. It sounds great with the Tonepump in it but I just can't gel with it like my NS2A. How many of you guts play 4 string basses exclusively? I love hitting a few low notes now and then but my NS2A does have a drop tuner.....I'm starting to the 5 strings just aren't for me. I just feel all sorts of clumsy on it.......

I'm a 4 string only kind of guy. I do GAS occasionally for a 5er, but when it comes down to it, I can't rock a 5 string like I can on a 4.

Well I have a gut but play both 4 and 5 string basses C'mon, I just couldn't let that one go, lol.

You can actually order either a ReBop or a Euro with the Alex Webster neck profile, which is considerably thinner front to back

Is the neck really that much thinner on the non-Rebop Euros?

Hmm...I'm used to the Ibanez Soundgear neck and although I have no problem on the Rebop (it's really super comfortable considering the difference), I would still prefer thinner...so this would make a Euro my next purchase. I think more than the girth of the neck, what feels a little off for me is the width the higher up the neck you go.

I also switch constantly between a 35" fiver and a 34" four string. I think it's just a matter of doing it enough and getting used to it. I did the reverse though. I was just a five string player for a long time. Then bought a four string and immediately incorporated it into my playing. I love having the low B but if there's no call for it in a song I'll always be on the four string.

Both my USA builds will come with a shaved neck option. I'm told it's to simulate the thin necks of the Kramer era Spectors.

Both Firefox and Chrome will auto-spell check. And there's a plug in for IE that will check your spelling too.

Ditto. I've owned a few 5ers over the years but I keep heading back to the 4s.

I can't stand the Low B. I do like the thumb rest it provides and I do like the fretted C# thru E notes. Fivers are great for certain styles and or songs. IMHO

I've been playing 5-string for 20 of my 25 years playing. 4-strings just feel incomplete to me. Which sucks because I love the look of the classic NS-2.

Curious here - why is a 5-string a requirement for CCM?

not a requirement but for most CCM songs the sub E notes work really well in that setting. The same can be applied to gospel. I have always found it works well with the band that way, especially since modern CCM guitar players and mostly playing chimey delay parts (think U2), those low notes really fill out the band.

I played 4 string, then 5 string and came back to 4 after a while. Now just 4. And I must say 4 is enough fo me to get loud & low.

Which sucks because I love the look of the classic NS-2.

I'd love to see USA 5ers with NS-2 shape of headstock really. It is so organic and complete.

I seem to be in the minority here. I PREFER 5-string basses and tend to only dabble with my 4 strings, or use them for songs that need an open D (Rage, Tool, APC, etc).
