I'd love to try one out, don't get me wrong. However, I'm sort of a sucker for the vintage look on P's (think pickgaurd, classic colors like Shoreline Gold, Sonic Blue, etc. and matching headstocks). I like my Spectors with fancy tops and my "fender style" basses with classic finishes. Of course, that is all personal preference, so a "blinged" out Spector take on a P is definitely going to float some boats around here (and rightly so).

I think part of what makes a Spector sound like a Spector is the choice of pre-amps.

My Fender P that I put my TP in sounds like a Spector, now. Not identical, but it has that Spector balls & growl.

Fender branded passive J's and P's, as well as a ton of clone style J's and P's at all price points, all have different tonal nuances to my ears. IMO, the construction material (i.e. body wood, fretboard, pickup, bridge, attention to detail etc) contributes to the sound of a passive instrument more vs an active.

growing up imitating Duck Dunn, James Jamerson and Bob Babbitt, I've always seen the P-bass to be the perfect vehicle for that old school passive thump!!

...having said all that, I bet the Aggie guts sound wicked in them!

The cool thing about this P-Bass is it has a OBP2 tone circuit and can be switched to the passive mode, I have my 9V tone circuit in the NS2 so I'm really wanting something different.

Totally! I've only tried a few Fenders that actually feel comfortable to me...my OLD 07 MIA Jazz DLX and 08 MIA P Std. I've had more luck with other companies who make a more customizable Fender-inspired bass. :D

I've never been a fan of an active/passive feature for some reason. I've had it on a couple and never flipped it from active mode. IMO they sound awesome in active mode, but lose a little something in passive. It's either a hot passive or active setup for me! :bassist:

I thought about adding an active/passive to my ToneP-bass (still trying to find a name for this thing that I like. :D), but I found that I won't use the passive switch. I like the sound of the P through the TP too much.

When I took the Tonepump out of my Euro 5LX when I had it, I swapped it with a BQC and the pot holes for the 2 stacked knobs had to be widened. A reamer handled it quickly and easily though so it wasn't a big deal at all.

WOW! What an amazing looking lineup of Coda's! I see on the far right a HH Coda. :cool: The Coda Ps do stand out! It's really nice to see more pickup options for the Coda. :bassist::)

Yeah but the electronic cavity isn't large enough to hold a USA Spector 9V tone circuit...:scowl::rolleyes::ninja::atoz:

They are just full of surprises this year :-) A 34" scale Euro 5LX with J/J pickups? An Alex Webster Zombie drip finish? Man, keep 'em coming, lol.
