Both of these are insanely awesome. Since picking up my Spalt bass, I have a whole new appreciation for Mother Nature's ability to customize wood. Gorgeous basses!!!

So, you CAN get a P/J setup on an NS-5H2!!!! Good to know. ^_^

The S-O has given me permission to save up for a custom build & I think I want to do an NS-5H2 with a P/J setup & EMG BQC or TrimPump.

Now, to actually decide on body colour, clear coat type & hardware colour. The neck is definitely going to be BEM with Black MoP inlays.

Sidenote: Why are the heels on the USA series black?? Can you get them body coloured, like the ReBop?

To my knowledge that is the first NS-5H2 with P/J pups(Spector correct rev position) and US 9v pre. Came out May of 2013. I love it! The heels are more of a charcoal in person. I believe most of the basses I have seen that are stained have matching heels.

Yes you can if the body is stained and not natural wood.

I like the chrome look. Really pops on certain finishes.

I was thinking about chrome for swampy but alas, chromed Euro bridges are difficult to source without cannibalizing one of those white Sting tribute EuroLXs.

Speaking of which, has anyone actually used a chrome plating company for a Spector bridge before? I've found a place in San Jose but I'm open to any recommendations from Team Spector.

Might be my imagination but the body on that black cherry jazz bass looks a little more "rounded" than normal. More NS like.

I really like this. This is what I want my NS2 to look like!

Not only that...the Coda 4DLX bodies look as though the shape changed a little...see how on the Coda 5's, the body curves out where the electronic controls more so than the other side...not so much on the Coda 4. They still look outstanding! Just an observation, that's all.

OK, my SAS is in overdrive! Not sure if the Coda is for me since I'm not a fan of a Jazz type neck.

I love my neck thru USA NS2 but I'd like a little cheaper variant with twin J pups and quite possibly an Aguilar tome circuit. I like the less rounded body wings on the USA NS2 bolt on neck model.

The Spector site says multiple pup options are available. Are twin J's an option??

The P-Bass has a 1.62" neck width at the nut....

E, Since you have the solid brass bridge on your Swampy, it's a very easy thing to take it to your local place and get it chrome plated.

Been away a few days, preparing questions for the two bassist interviews I did last night. With none other than Blood Red Throne and Decapitated respective bassists. I can't wait to get the interviews written up and out there! I had a great time, guys!

I've been an Active Bass guy since 1980 so I would love to have two P-pups with either the USA 9v or 18v or even an Aggie. Plus I just am not a BEM neck guy so PF for me. Add that to black cherry quilted maple. Hmmmm... Or... I know... a Walnut burl top.



Yeah, my next build will be a NS4 with 35P pups. Now after that maybe a Coda-P.
I am so hopelessly addicted.

A P bass Walnut Burl top but with a fretless Ebony FB is what I'd my next Coda 5XL DLX to be.

I've never been a fan of an active/passive feature for some reason. I've had it on a couple and never flipped it from active mode. IMO they sound awesome in active mode, but lose a little something in passive. It's either a hot passive or active setup for me!

Same here...with my Coda 5XL DLX it stays in active mode. I've tried the passive now & then but I like the tone of the active much much more.

First day of NAMM was epic....unfortunately the Forte SS was presold, so I never even had a chance to buy it...on the plus side however, it sounded even better than I thought it would, just this biggest, punchiest, growliest J bass I've ever heard and dead quiet with either pickup solo'd as well...

I'll definitely be calling PJ to order one as soon as he gets back to the office next week
