If any of you are playing rockbass with an 18v pre Spector, let me know.
I put new batts in my Ian Hill and now my truetone cord doesn't work.:mad:
The PC and RS2014 know if it's plugged in or not but I get no sound. :eyebrow:
I borrowed a friends cord and used my 9v NS-2J and his cord works fine. :hmm:

This^^^. And I would also want one change that Spector innovatively got right from the get go:
That P pup needs to be reversed.
Not for aesthetics (although I do prefer the look),
but for the sound balance improvement it creates across all the strings.

I don't think I've ever noticed a sound balance issue. Then again, I run heavier strings than most on my bottom end, so the tension probably helps to balance that out.

My home rig is an SWR Baby Blue II combo.
I use an EBS MicroBass II as a preamp, giving me the equivalent of 3 footswitchable channels. Between the SWR & EBS, I have overdrive, compression, an aural enhancer, parametric EQ, and 2 effects loops.
It sounds particularly good when paired with a TonePump equipped Spector. :bassist:

I'm using a Peavy Max 115. It's a beast with a lot of different voicings thanks to its vintage/modern/something else switch. Plus a lot of knobs. And a headphones out. And when no one is home I can turn it up and rock out to my heart's content.

Well, it's actually opposite of that.
A vintage position P actually tends to already be heavier on the bottom strings with the E & A bobbin being closer to the headstock. With the D & G bobbin being closer to the bridge, making them thinner in relation.

Reversing this like Spector (and now many others have figured out), gives a little more distinction to the bottom strings while giving a little more body to the top strings.

Small difference, I admit. But it's one I definitely hear (I've modded/reversed these in the past on the same bass) and prefer.

Just wanted to second that, my Epi Thunderbird Classic pro now has EMG TBDC pickups and a non trim tonepump, and now it sounds like a spector, no doubt about that. It still has that T-Bird vibe in its sound, but the more prominent sound is the Spector growl and grit. Very, very nice now.
