O, SO cleaned, Rem'ed 10" of extra battery lead, put on a set of Spector Nickel medium strings (I think), fresh 9v battery.

Now, What about this SPECTOR branded preamp ??

Don't know but I'd yank out those Spector branded passive pickups for some active pickups. Makes a HUGE different in tone.

Its a Spector Legend bridge that I bought from the Spector website. It's a exact replacement for the NS2a.

Yeah, I like the weight too. My Forte felt like I could go out back and use it to split wood.

Hefty but never unwieldy. Not to speak ill of the Warwick (not my taste at all) but I tried one once at GC and it felt like I was trying to sling around a 3/4 ton chevy rear end. The Forte is a sublime creation and if I were wearing a hat right, I'd tip it to PJ.

That's a real nice demo except for the P/J pickup demo not so much but the HOT P pickup demo was outstanding! I love that big full fat sound and being able to add some grit to it.

Yeah, Fender is big on the "Road Worn Look" also...it's not my cup of tea I'd rather do all the wearing look myself. My wife says "Why would someone want to buy and pay more for something that looks beat up and used already?" Lol I agree with her. To each their own as they say.

I love the worn look and the feel of the broken in necks is amazing!
It's tough to get an affordable nitro finished bass anymore & poly just doesn't wear.
I'm also too young to have had the ability to purchase & naturally wear a nitro finished bass. So, for me, a road worn series is a great opportunity.

That said, Fender does offer the Classic series in a Nitro finish, now. They even come with a tweed hard shell.

I wonder if Spector would ever do a nitro finish. ^_^

So, I see a few differences in my 2 Haz Copy preamps...
both say E2-003A behind the battery hold down.. The one outside the cavity says KRAMER an DC-1-VO

but, I can't see... wait...hold the phone..
The one IN the bass says SPECTOR...?????? and 3-V-O

Trace you ever have one of these that completely give up the ghost you just let me know and I'll take it off your hands

Not a problem, I was just hunting some different Aguilar pickup demos because I have never been to involved with the brand. If that's what they are using in the Coda P-Bass I would like to see what they sound like and I actually like the sound of the AG4P-60 over the AG4P-HOT right now...so I need more demos on the HOT pickup!

Yeah the AG4P-60 has a very nice smooth 60/70's sound to them I wouldn't mind have both setup in different basses for flavor

Yeah that would be cool, I figured the AG4P-60 would be a cool tone and if I needed the drive I could do it with a pedal or at the amp.

One thing I'm thinking about with these Coda-P basses. The pup is back to the Fender config. If you were to use the pup to anchor your thumb, you'd be playing directly over the pup. I know some people like that but I don't (generally). Hmmm...

Try playing with the "floating thumb" technique.
I switched to it years ago, and my speed & articulation increased dramatically, and my right hand fatigue decreased substantially.
It also makes wide intervals easier to play, although they require some left-hand strength & development exercises as well.

I'll look into that. Though I was taught to anchor the right hand either with the thumb in finger style or the pinkie in pick style. Thus yielding more accuracy in your playing.

But I'll never say this dog is too old to learn new tricks.
