SPECTOR® Club - Part 77

they are kinda like my kids, but I gave better names to the kids.

of the Spectors I've owned:

The Special Edition Walnut I got from Matt I named Nutso
The Euro Wimbish I named Dougie Fresh (because I bought it new)
The Euro 435 was named Lowdown, because I tuned it BEAD
And the white NS-2JAR I had was simply the White Spector, because it didn't stay around long enough to get a real name.

Other basses from other mfg names include: Dark Bob (P-bass with a Darkstar pickup), Hotness (orange satin P-bass with Hot-P pickup), Truth (P-bass with Fralins, the standard by which others are measured), Hot Rod (surf green J-bass with Big Singles and 18v OBP-2), Deanna (amber J-bass with Fat Stacks and 9v OBP-3, named for my wife), Country Bass (spalted maple 5-string J with Big Splits and Nordy pre)

Well crap on a cracker...I had to cancel our SW road trip due to an unforeseen car repair that's going to cost the price of a good Spector bass. :bawl::ninja::( Really was looking forward to meeting several Spector brothers on the way too...and getting a chance to play some awesome Spectors in Todd's store! :atoz: Another time...sigh

It sounds great, but is this the original preamp? The pots have a date of 2004 on them.

The back of the headstock is smudged and smeared under the clear. Very odd for a company as quality conscience as Spector. I can't really make out the serial number.

It also has white spots under the clear. the clear is perfectly smooth and shiny on thop of these spots.

The dent on the bottom was from the person who packed it into the box.

All in all, I think this bass is a keeper, but I assume it is a factory blemish.
Price was $1200
Price will be reduced because of the packing dent, but if it was a factory blem, should it be less?

Anyway, I am still looking for a Euro4LX-TW.

A man can't have too many Spectors I guess!

That is a beautiful instrument! I had a NS5CRFM in that same finish and knowing what I know now I wish I had kept it! :hyper:

Thats an extremely early (#40, 2001) Euro4.
This was the immediate series after the NSCRFM's and led up to the LX's in 2004. Not an LX and nothing transitional.
IMHO, these are the best of the Czech Spectors. The hidden gems of the Czech lines.
This still has the solid maple wings and total brass bridge.
One this early would have had an Aguilar OBP-1 pre, so the EMG stuff is after market.

Although $1200 isn't terrible and used Spector prices seem to be rising a bit, I've regularly found these between $800 and $1000.
Actually had a 5 string on my local CL for $600 that even sat for a while about a year ago.

We need to plan a date that we can all roll into Tulsa for the Spector party at the Guitar House, we can turn it into a annual event kind of like the NAMM show and bring all of our basses plus check out all the cool stuff we can take home with us! lol
