when I swapped them in from the singles I also put in a DG tone capsule witch I think has to much dirt for this bass, I liked it better with the punch of the singles and the OBP, by comparison the doubles and TC are a bit muddy on the low end, i think im going to try the Haz in this bass with the doubles and if i still don't like that its going back to singles.
i might try the TC in a fretless im building, i do like a nice dirty fretless tone

I need to replace a couple pots on a Korean HAZ.
Someone used a short shaft for the P pickup volume, feels bent.

Looking for a blend pot to replace the J volume pot.

The TC seems like a great preamp that fits in selected pickup types, I didn't care for it very much with the EMG GXR's when I heard it and always wanted to listen to it with a set of active EMG pickups.

Hope it works out that you can keep it. It's a fantastic bass. The only reason I sold it was that I have a new build in the works.

Love the green. Wish they would make it with a BEM board.

Not really, it was just another playing experience and something that fit with my work schedule. I seemed to only get involved with the music group while I was there or when some would come up to the stage asking questions, a lot of guys would comment or have questions about the Spector basses...and, I just played last week and I'm getting pinged with emails about the tone of the bass! All I could tell them is how I set the Sansamp Para Driver pedal (I purchased from Jeff) to the Ampeg SVT then played the Forte5 set to the center detents on the balance and tone with the board set at level.....hoping it would assist other bass players!

Used Euro series is the way to go. Lots of nice ones pop up in the $1000 to $1500 range.

Fellow Spector lovers: Educate me on the Haz preamp.
What's the difference between the 9 volt and 18 volt Haz preamps? Also, what's really the advantage of a 34" 5 string NS? Seems like the necks extend the same distance, just the bridge is moved closer in from the edge of the body. Is there some sort of ergonomic advantage? All of my prior Spectors were 35" (two Euro's and one USA bolt on). I do really like the way my new Helium 34" 5 string feels.

I was checking out posts, yesterday, on the comparisons between the Tone Pump and the 18V HAZ, and I came across this page that has comparisons between the 9V and 18V HAZ. A quick comparison would be that the 9V HAZ has more treble and grit than the 18V HAZ.

The 35" scale requires a little more tension to tune the B string. So, the 35" scale is more suited for the B string, or drop tunings. However, depending on the strings you use, and the tension that is required to tune the B string, the 34" scale can work just as well for the B string, and not have any fret buzz. I use D'Addario Chromes which have a little more tension when tuned than some strings, and the B strings works well with the 34" scale.
