Beyond the CTB or SpectorCore models, what are folks' favorite Spector models/configurations done fretless (and what you like about them -- besides being a Spector!)?

Mine is the NS4 fretless and what I like about it is the ebony neck using the flats and running the 18V haz with EMG DC pickups, its a tone that I like a lot.

interesting idea... i thought of doing that w/ a battery powered DI pedal or maybe the phantom power would work as well... thx! s

Haha! Too funny. I had a similar moment, though over email. I learned more than I thought possible about closed hole/open hole, etc. Is there a TalkFlute.com? :smug:

The 9V will eliminate the need for power that has been contaminated by the lights you mentioned and/or the differences between the board circuit and the amp circuit...so, try the 9V pedal with a DI and review its literature to see if it is capable of running in a phantom power mode and if it is keep the 9V installed as it prevents popping when the pedal is turned on/off, etc. then see if your sound guy knows how to place the board into phantom...what this is: when you plug the cord into the DI it sends your signal to the board but the board will send power back along the same cord...so, its a loop which prevents these distortions.

Most likely and I also have a moisture meter to check. As long as the moisture in the wood is the same as the workshops moisture you're good to go. I have many more spalted maple logs yet to mill tomorrow that show much more promising spectacular patterns. I'm thinking of contacting PJ and some other instrument manufacturers to see if they'd be interested in buying some of my spalted maple.

Make sure you put Mica Wickersham at Alembic Bass on your list. They seem like they will source materials from almost anywhere.

Happy First Friday Spector owners! I have one old and one new today. An old photo of my Kramer era NS-2A, and one that was on Reverb for a while, my 1999 NS5-CRFM. This is one smokin' 5 string. While the Aguilar OBP-1 that's in it sounds great, I will be installing in her next week a new SNC 2 band HAZ Clone to compliment her all maple goodness. I'm still on the hunt for a used EMG 40P5 to throw in the neck position, if anyone's looking to part with one.
