That's the reason I switched to Darkglass, smoother frequency control and mid frequency added, so much more musical than OBP2. And I also wired it with switch to passive by volume push-pull knob.

Not all OBP2 basses have passive tone control. You would require a stacked pot for bass and treble.
I tried the basslines with a Darkglass Tone Capsule, which sounded okay. But, I put a Lindy Fralin P and split J (+5%) along with a Darkglass Tone Capsule, and got a better tone. Of course that's just my opinion, and yours may vary.
No. I've got a rebop with them and the matching pre and it's a lifeless mess I plan to gut and put in Barts and dgtc

True. You and I probably had this same conversation when I ordered my Forte and that's how I ended up with the OBP-2. Passive tone is excellent with these pickups.

I play in a 3 piece 80s band where it sounds perfect.
In my other hard rock cover band it fits right in up against two Marshall 4x12s.

I returned that Spector NS2A with active EMG's and Korean preamp. It sounded really sterile but powerful. When I plucked the strings (no amp) tho it sounded like dull thuds.. don't know what the deal was with that? For a grand it was just too much for a used Spector that had a crack in the paint on back of headstock and light scratches. You could tell someone maybe upgraded it from passive to active.

That's a heck up a recommendation.
I just got done playing my NS-2 for the last couple of hours and I just can't see how it can get any better than the old emj pj/haz combo.
I'm gonna have to get me another Spector so I can see what all the fuss is about with the other pickup/pre
configurations..
I am currently looking for a Used NS-2, but to go with it I was thinking a Aguilar DB 751 to make them all sound better. I currently have the Aguilar AG 700, with a SL4x10 with SL 1x15, so what do you guys use and how would the 751 compare.
I went ahead and listed my Spector Euro 4. Just not liking it even after I tried a new set of EB Cobalt Flats earlier today.

I was still getting that growl crunchy territorial tone that I thought EB cobalt flats would help mellow out even by the slightest bit. I adjusted the pickup height for a third time to see if that changed anything but it's still not doing it for me.
I eventually gave up and am hoping to recoup my losses with this Bass in hopes of either looking into a Forte or a Euro LX.
Thank you, it is a hot bass indeed and if it weren't for my unsatisfactory personal taste I would've later on added FretFX lights on that bad girl!
I know they tend to mellow out within 2 months for me. I still have mine on after 4 years and counting on my Washburn bass. Really good strings but I don't have the patience to wait 2 months when I have a recording session this weekend as much as I'd like to wear these out on my Spector ASAP.
Sheesh, and I LOVE my Spector Euro 4 LX with the EMG's and "measly" tone pump. Tremendous versatility and power. I must be tone deaf!
The past few months, I have been playing my CR-P bass more and more. Out of curiosity, I think the run of these was fairly limited. Does anyone else in the group have one? And, specifically, does anyone have another one of these that they're not playing much and might be interested in a swap for a Euro 5'er? Based on my current projects, it is likely that I'm making the switch back to four strings and would like to keep it in the P-bass realm.

I used to own one. Sold it since I switched to 5ers but exactly like you said, I'd like to buy it back cause it fits the staff that I am playing now.
