This is 100% correct - There are more than a few of the earliest NS2A basses (circa 1987 or so) that did not have serial numbers, I have one of them that I have owned since about 1988.

Emg JAX pickups are the fattest most humbucker like j pickups I have tried, I have a set I was thinking of trying in my NS2JJ

Yeah I seem to remember the 1st 3 to 6 months had no serial numbers and I don't remember what the time frame was for the non Volute neck. I just remember it was relatively early in the run.

Non Volute neck-- it was sanded and sealed with Danish Oil.
Before the beginning of October I had no Spectors. Now I have three. None of them are high dollar ones - a Euro 4LX, an early Rebop 5 and now the return of my NS2A. I think I'm gonna need a Forte.

Was yours a refinish? Looks great!
Yeah, someone did a Poly coat refinish on it before I got it. It has EMG active pups, and EMG BTS preamp that was converted to 18 volts. BTW, the back of the neck was sanded due to that Poly finish feel. She was also recently converted to fretless. Real nice player.

Love my NS-2A! As great as the Korean and Czech basses are, the US Spector's are the cream of the crop. My Forte 5W is hands down the best 5'er I've ever laid my hands on

I've heard the trick is to buy them all in the same color!
I've never thought mine looks Teal. Maybe after White, Black and Red, Blue just seemed "mundane". Then they got CRAZY with a Sunburst!
If you have enough basses, you can probably just pretend it was always there.
I'm always struck by non-players inability to recognize basses and guitars - so many fall into the same general color ranges and shapes, and they just see 'bass' 'guitar' or even just 'instrument'. Granted might not apply if you have only bursts and suddenly there's a green metal flake, but still.
