this is an NS6JH. #021. Factory bridge as far as I know.
I have 2 NS-JH5's. In the early years they used Hipshot B style bridges. I personally prefer them to the standard Spector bridges to be totally honest.
My bad. I mean look, I only need one 6 string unlined fretless in my life I've learned. My gravitation to multiscale necks and my love for my dingwall does have me selling this…. But it just sounds and plays sooooo damn good I've even been considering selling the dingwall in its stead as this thing is just so damn good.
… hmmm. How's that for torture. Mwahahahah.

Lets say, hypethetically you could order an NS-2 with an 11 month lead and a reasonable price.
And alternatively, you can find an in-stock NS-2 with a similar price that you would want to change a couple things on... EMG X to EMG P/J, add hipshot tuners/bassextender.
Is it reasonable to just buy the "in-stock" option and mod it? (or wait 11 months for them to build your exact spec bass)

Sure. Why not. If possible try the bass and if the bass itself works for you then mod away.

I do have a custom order NS-1 incoming soon, though.
Anyone else here experimented with both the EMGX PX/JX series AND the EMG P/J set. Either would be using Hazlab preamp. Just curious to hear anyone's feedback... those who have tried them and if they can do everything the EMG P/J can or not. Gotta have that growl

I have the P5X and 40DC with the 18V Haz in my NS2000/5 and the regular EMG P/J set and K-Haz in my NS2A, so I can't really speak to the J comparison. As far as the P's go I think the PX sounds more like a traditional passive P tone when soloed. The non-X sounds a little bit more processed. Both sound great in combination with the bridge pup and give you that Spector growl.
I have a euro that came with P/J set and an SNC-Pre. I have installed X series since. Agree with the above. The originals are a bit more compressed sounding. Both very articulate. X series have a bit more dynamic response to them. Both growl, both great pickups. Difference wasn't tremendous. But I won't be switching back. I like the X series a lot.
Unless you know you need the X series, I'd recommend trying the regular "original recipe" non-X first if that's what it comes with. Every time I've tried them, I always go back to the non-X version - I just like the sound and feel of those better. I'll always try anything new, but I definitely prefer the original recipe.
I have the standard EMG PJs in my NS4CRFM, and X-Series EMG PJs in my Euro 6LT. Both of my Spectors have EMG BTS eq systems, and their internal dip switches are set the same.
Obviously the best way for me to compare them would be to try a set of each series in the same instrument, which is something I want to do in the future in my NS4CRFM.
This being said, I really love how the P-X/J-X set sounds in my Euro 6LT. I think these pickups are a perfect match for it. I feel EMG truly achieved the dynamic feel of a passive pickup with these X-Series pickups. To my ears, their tonality is similar to the Standard Series EMGs, but they're slightly less aggressive, and they're more dynamic sounding. But happily, they still provide that Growl that you're looking for.
The Standard Series EMG PJs sound more focused and "In your Face", to me. When I play my NS4CRFM with a heavier touch, it has Growl for days.
Besides having standard series PJs in my NS4CRFM, I've owned several Fender and Fender-style Jazz and Precision basses with standard series EMGs. So, I feel very familiar with their sound.
I personally like both versions a lot, and I don't think the X-Series EMGs make the Standard EMGs obsolete, not by any means.
I'd say if you prefer a more focused and aggressive tone, more Growl, the Standard EMGs would most likely be your favorite of the two.
Came across a 1990 blue Kramer on Reverb, this morning, and couldn't resist. I'll post more pictures when I get it.
I am coming to the same conclusion, I don't like the X's in a Spector. For what I want and expect a Spector to sound like the X's don't do it for me. I'm going back to the regular EMG's in the 2 basses I tried them in.
If you are looking for that growl go with the regular set. To my ear there is a massive difference between the 2.
