Yeah I hear you. I got my Ethos HP (pictured) exactly because it had the features of the "proper" ones, like neck-through, body carve, and top of the line electronics. The only place where it falls short is the tuners which can be easily remedied.

I still do have a little voice in the back of my head that wonders if Euros are really that much better. Especially the ones that are solid color finished anyway.
They're different. Not necessarily better. The pickup placement is the big thing, IMHO. It changes the character of the bass. You can get pretty close with Legend/Ethos placement if you drop in a 3 band LHZ to fill the mids back in. The Korean basses can get a little scooped in comparison to the Euros & USAs. The big exception in my experience has been the Skyler Accord signature. I dropped EMG Xs in mine along with a USA 18V Haz wired at 9V, and it is one of my top 3 favorite basses regardless of country of origin. The other 2 are my Euro 5 Classic and my Korg era NS5XL. Everything else is good to great. Those three are spectacular.

I have four Korean Spectors. I've played Euros, and the thing that strikes me is that the necks are substantially thicker. I really do have a jonesin' for a Euro RST because they're so obscenely light. The Korean Spectors are very good instruments. If I were to change anything about them, I'd leave the dots off the neck and just keep the Spector logo. All of mine have Hipshot Ultralites on 'em.

The LTs are very thick. LXs are much better (especially the older ones). The CSTs are almost as thin as the Korean necks.

Given that I'm primarily a guitar player the thin neck of the Ethos is what drew me to it.

So I cannot divulge the details, but I have appeared to acquire this 'blockish' fellow who appears to be one of the last mochians before stepping into the wilds.

I actually like the sound of the preamp and the neck feels great. I wish the body was cut more like the LX or ICON, but it has its own charm.

Not a fan of the center dents on the DK preamp. It's like it's hardly noticeable…The exact opposite of the EMG eq system where you feel like you hit a little valley. (I greatly prefer that).

There goes that need for another LX set up J style…(I think 🤔)

Silly me, it's an Ethos HP 5…Thank You 🤙🏽

I might go J J (40 shell of course).

Right now my stable is pretty set, that was more of want than a need.

not sure if you are an EMG endorsee, or even want EMG, but they have standard EMG J's on clearance right now.

Thank You, unofficially I am….The JCS is what I'm thinking about too…(I was a Nordy guy for years).

I have a fill in gig on Saturday and I give this thing a spin as is for now. Thanks again for the heads up.
