Spector makes a "Rebop 4-MM" which is a Euro made bolt on with an MM pickup and 2-band EQ. They're kinda pricey being Euro made and not Korean, but you may find a decent deal on a used one in the future. Something to save up for

Interesting! I didn't know the op-amp really played a role in that. I won the auction, so I'll definitely try the LF442CN. Also, does this preamp need to be grounded to the bridge?

the output jack in my ns2a has been falling apart from the inside as of late, so next time I change anything inside (soon), I want to replace it. The one in there now has 3 terminals (like in this not very good schematic), but it looks like most of the jacks in guitars (and most of my buying options) have only two. With a mono jack, do I solder the ring and sleeve connections to the same (sleeve) terminal?

YES....Wire it as it has been set up and use the proper jack, when you have passive pickups they must be grounded to reduce noise so keep the strings/bridge grounded.

I already do love it! I really like my Q4Pro, but I pick up the NS-2A and I can't believe how perfect it feels. And sounds. I'm sure I'll love plenty more basses (I already do. Still wanting to try a MM style humbucker bass.) but this NS-2A is phenomenal. After I played it yesterday, I was pretty sure I was buying it.

I just won't eat for the month of June

Stock up on the Raman noodles, and chili for the next month....peanut butter and jelly goes a long way and each time your belly growls run over to your girlfriends house and have her load you up with the beef...or...just look at the NS2A and pretend its a side of beef! lol

Are you really going to starve or are you just saying that out of concern?

I've recently purchased a Spector, I think its a Legend but I'm not quite sure what it is. Here are some pictures, if anybody can help be ID it I'd greatly appreciate it. Even though I'm not entirely sure of its origin, it plays beautifully and I got it at a great price.

That flat looking back and EMG HZs make me think Q4Pro, like the one I just bought, misrepresented as a Legend Classic. Quite a nice bass, I think. For reference, I paid $300 with a Spector hard case.

I'm sure the real experts will chime in. You can send pics (especially including serial number) to PJ at Spector to find out what it is and when it was made. Go to the Spector website to find the address for product identification.

I've recently purchased a Spector, I think its a Legend but I'm not quite sure what it is. Here are some pictures, if anybody can help be ID it I'd greatly appreciate it. Even though I'm not entirely sure of its origin, it plays beautifully and I got it at a great price.

I just purchased a Legend which was made between late 2003 and 2008 and it is a bolt on neck, serial #9493. Just kidding. I won't be starving. I just didn't plan on buying two Spector basses this month (my first month of playing). But I couldn't pass up this NS-2A. I'm pretty shocked to be thrilled to have paid $500 today on a 25-ish year old bass.

And I do actually like peanut butter a lot

You are correct, that is a Legend series bass, but it is an older Legend Custom model, with a set neck construction instead of the typical bolt on neck seen in the current Legend Classic basses.
The Legend basses of this era were made in bolt on and set neck models, and the set neck basses were the Legend Custom models.
The bass you posted is a second generation Legend, as the first gen Legend 4 string models initially had P/J EMG-HZ pickups, and yours has soapbar HZ pickups, but it does have the same gold hardware and EMG 3 band EQ as the first gen basses.
It's a great bass, and these are much less common than the bolt on Legends.
Even less common are the ones with a Bubinga top, like yours. Nice score!

Rod Harder identified my NS-2A as being Samick era from a picture of the preamp cavity, so I'd go with this (BTW Rod, the S/N does start with 'S', as you predicted. But you already knew that.)

I know a little about the NS2A, Stuart was part of Kramer during this time and helped set up the Korean factory and his goal was to make a quality introduction bass which is an introduction to the NS2! But being the Luther Stuart is, his expectation and quality requirements had the Korean factory build an excellent bass and they still use this factory today...however, after he left Spector the Kramer group was trying to save the company so they had Samick (which also a Korean company) start building the NS2A and this is the reason for the different tone knob drillings, etc.

Cool. I still don't understand the different knob drillings. The ones I've seen look the same, but apparently not all are. Or maybe I just don't know enough to notice the nuances.

Look at a new Spector bass straight on- you'll see the knobs are in a diamond shaped arrangement. Look at your NS2A - it's an offset, parallelogram arrangement. Hope this makes sense.

It does, but do the arrangements also differ from one NS2A to another? I haven't noticed that. Yet.

So as some of you saw on FB, we had a little gathering in Atlanta this weekend with a few of the club members...Grendle (Len), Worldeeter (Steve) Malaina (tat2dheart) and myself from the club as well as bassist and former Spector owner Bianca (TB handle unknown). It was a blast getting to meet and spend time with these fantasic individuals and their basses! At one point I think we had 15-20 basses lying around and 9 of them were Spectors!

I've got to say that everyone was amazing! There were stories told, laughs shared, beer consumed and basses played! I want to thank Malaina for opening her house to us for a few days and for everybody being so friendly! It truly was a great experience! Here are 2 of the many pics from Sat. night.

It was a REALLY fun evening! ...but that's not all...

On Sunday night, there was something very special that I was fortunate enough to experience. A private house concert with Michael Manring!! Not only was he simply amazing and awe-inspiring, and even better than getting to be the first folks to hear a tune he's working on for his new album...watch out because it's going to be spectacular...but to end the show he was gracious enough to grant Malaina a song request that required more than one bassist... So Grendle and myself were selected to go up and jam with the master! It's been a childhood dream to just meet the guy, but last night I actually got to play with him in a concert setting! I speak for myself, and I'm sure Len too, that it was one of the highlights of my entire life!

I'm still unsure if I can make the hang in Aug, it's not looking good, but I'm sure it'll be a blast!

Totally my pleasure! I had a great time hanging out with all y'all. Biannca is Furry Monkey. I'm sure you've seen her wit around over in Humor.

Steve, thanks for bringing the basses down to show off. Loved them all!!! Any time you're passing through the ATL, just let me know and we'll go scavenge a music store and find a show and beer at a place where they put the beer temps on the wall.

Brad, so awesome to get to hang with you and check out your basses. You've got some magic there, my friend. Same goes for you on the ATL invite, but we'll include record stores, too.

Len, I don't need to say much since you can read my mind. So - I'll just leave this here and wait to see what happens.
