I'm recording a bass track for a friend's project and I'm curious as to some of your guys's preferred settings. When you record with everything on the bass all the way up, do you find this produces a 'scooped' tone?

Out of curiosity, where did this info come from? Is it on the Spector site? Haven't seen it (but havent looked either).

FWIW, I changed the original Tone Pump Jr. for an actual Tone Pump (no trim) in my Legend 6. There was really almost no difference. The real difference came when I installed the Aguilar OBP-1. Much more open, clearer tone, but a little less bottom at similar knob settings as the Tone Pump.
Changing out the EMG-SSD's for active EMG's was the huge difference though.

Doesn't that bass feel like it actually plays it's self? When my son was visiting us he couldn't put it down all the time he was here. That's pretty cool being able to play thru your aux on your truck stereo! Congrats Trace! Try to get some sleep. :eyebrow:Hehehe

Looks like the standard 12th fret inlay to me.

Well.... no not sure but I think that's what mine says... boost only. I don't think the legend has the tone pump but could be cornfused since I have been playing my ns-2j and NY new Ian Hill mostly the last couple months.
My legend us probably feeling neglected and jealous right about now....

The website is correct, and my ears agree. There is a whole thread about it kicking around somewhere, but the TonePump does indeed both boost and cut.

I love my Spector Coda 4. It's perfect for Third Eye Blind. It's my favorite bass. It's versatile and can do everything. I can't wait to get another one! They sound really great with La Bella Super Steps too!

The legend classic has the Tonepump Jr.

Hey Rockstarbassist, when I went to put the new bridge in my '87 NS-2 it did not fit. It was a hair larger. My repair guy told me he would shave a little off the bridge because if he tried to take some of the wood out, it would most likely mess up the finish. I didn't mind at all though because It's my workhorse. I love the new bridge.

So...
My Ian Hill evidently has the EMG BQC preamp in it.:eyebrow:
It's an option but not sure if it's an upgrade from the Tone Pump that comes as Standard Equipment according to Spectorbass.com -
Thoughts anyone ??? Is it an upgrade/better preamp or ???

AND.... it's already been rewired for 18 VDC !!!:hyper:

Now, My NS-2J has the EMG BTS at 9 VDC and there is a huge difference in the sound... :bassist:
Anyone know what the difference is between the BQC and the BTS ?
