Spector Club - Part 13

Number 2 on that list is a flat-body Q5-Pro. The forerunner to the Legend. A nice bass... my first SPECTOR was a Q4... but no where NEAR a ReBop in feel or quality. Tone is actually similar. Not as much sustain. But passive EMG HZ pups married to an EMG 9v 2-band circuit.

I'm not sure that the $$$ is right for that one. It's a little high for a near 10-year-old Korean model with NO curved body.

The necks on the Q models are nice though.

Sure its not one of the old Performer basses? I thought the hardware on the Q5-Pro was black?

Bridge looks different too.

Yeh I thought so too but I wasn't stopping to shop...just grabbing and posting to help a brother out. At a glimpse I saw the silver bridge. Thought twice about posting but heh...a guy never knows what another will buy, right?

Jeez Chris I'm getting old.

You're right. I just looked at the little thumbnail and because it's a horrible photo it looked like there was quilt on the top. But that's JPEG compression distorting the solid orange/red color.

Yup. That's a Performer 5. Not even the DLX. They've WAY got this one wrong.

Thanks for catching that. Note to self, look at the larger picture next time.

A couple of months ago I got my first Spector - after much drooling over a specific one in a Montreal store - from fellow TBer seventhframe, a very nice Euro 5LX in natural(I'm holding out on pics since I have yet to take one of my own with my current setup, soon.. but no number for me, no pic no # ;) .)

We were playing a show at a music production/business school about a month ago and the bassist from the band after us came to me to see if he could play through my rig(800rb that I just got rid off and a Genz 610 cab) and of course, I obliged since he was a cool guy. Turns out, he plays Spector too and after talking a bit he took his NS-2 out.. Wow! Looks amazing, plays amazing(even though the action was a tad high for my taste it still played like butter) and for the first time, I got to hear another spector through my rig in a gig setting. I was sitting about 30 feet away,

NS-2 -> TU-2 -> 800rb/GB 610 XB2... :D:D:D
The sound!! super defined and growly, cut through but supported the tune all the same, simply amazing. I was floored by how good it sounded.

Thanks everyone at Spector, this is one hell of an instrument.

Aurora Strings. They are kinda pricey, but they feel great, and they last pretty long as well. I've had the same set on my bass for about 2 months and the tone has died down a bit after quite a few of 100 degree+, sweaty, 4 hours shows, but they still rock!:bassist:
