Spector Club Pt. 3 (Insert Clever Title Here)

Even though this has its own thread, I thought I'd post here.
Spector Euro 4LX - it was originally natural oil but I just had it refinished with this sunburst. Also switched to black hardware and an EMG pre.

If you have the same tuners as me, you need Schaller M4 2000's with the J housing. The # is 15324 according to Schaller but you need to specify the "J" housing. The Schaller website also shows 3 different key shapes. The correct ones are #532113. Like I said, Julie at Allparts is the person to help you on this.
That is exactly the info I needed. Thanks so much for doing the footwork. I'll be contacting P.J. Rubal about the black bridge and control knobs in about a week as well as contacting Julie at the same time. I was about to start looking at Hipshot Ultralites with the similar hole placement but would much rather stay traditional with the Schallers. I can't wait to see the black hardware against the translucent green finish. Should be all said and done in a month's time or less. I'm stoked. Your info sealed the deal. Much thanks again.
I've looked at your bass everyday since you posted the finished pics. Spectacular is a word that is sometimes overused, but it definitely describes this Spector. I've never been a fan of sunburst finishes, but this is just incredible!

I've gotta second what Spector Ray said. I'm not a fan of bursts, especially tobacco bursts and this one looks absolutely stunning. There's finishes on other basses (bursts reds, blues) that I just don't care for and when I see the same or similar finish on a Spector, I just gawk in amazement. Beautiful bass, man. I hope you enjoy it for years to come.

Thought it would be good to take some family pics with the newly refinished euro.
In order of the first picture:
1983 Spector NS2 - All original with hazlab pre and badass bridge, serial #673 from original Brooklyn factory. Someone did sand down the back of the neck at some point. Obviously well worn! Signed on back by Victor Wooten.

Spector Euro4LX - Bubinga Top, which PJ said they only made 6 of. All stock except for added balance pot/master volume setup with tonepump. I hate 2 volume setups.
Spector NS4 - This NS4 has walnut back and spalted top on the wings. The best sounding of the 4 IMO. It just kills, absolutely kills.

You know, I was a little unsure of the look on that photoshopped version but it is really growing on me. That will certainly be one of the most unique Spectors out there! I think the black stripes make it work as I've always loved basses with racing stripes. Hmmm, british racing green with white racing stripes might be a cool spector!
How does that feel? Besides the feel of bare wood, I've always thought taking off the paint would make a thinner neck since there's a lot of finish on there. Thought about doing that to mine, but boy, if it doesn't work

It is pretty thin. I actually prefer it a little beefier but it is fast. If I could have it where one of the former owners never did it, I'd go for that b/c otherwise it is all original.
I'm looking at what I think is an NS2a. It's got the model number on the back plate, and dot fingerboard markers. I've never had one of these, what model do they compare to that's out today?
From a wood standpoint, there's nothing in the current Euro line that compares since they don't do all maple basses anymore. The closest current model it would resemble, and this is kind of a stretch, would be a U.S. NS2 and again that's regarding tonewoods. The NS2As were equipped with Spector branded EMG Select pickups and an import knockoff of the HAZ Labs preamp so tonally it wouldn't compare to anything current. A set of real deal EMG P/Js along with the stock preamp fixes that. It's a great bass made even better with the EMG upgrade.
