I can't say I've played a lot of Spectors, but if this one is any indication, I'll be getting more of them. This Euro feels like it was built for my hands, and it simply thunders!

That turned out so nice! So where did you find the tuners?

I special ordered them from Schaller via Allparts. Julie at Allparts was a big help and they came much quicker than Schaller's original timeframe of 2-5 months (2-3 weeks actually)! Allparts was great to deal with.

I got the other Schallers (with the screw facing down or "into" the headstock) from Guitar Parts Resources but evidently exceeded their return time as the bass was being painted so they won't take them back. I was hoping they'd let me exchange them as they are still brand new in the packaging and I would have gladly just taken a credit and spent more $$ on some other stuff. I guess I'll throw them up on the accessories classifieds. : (

NOLA, that's a gorgeous refinishing job and fantastic Spector! It reminds me very much of Dave LaRue's old Kalher trem-equipped Cherry Sunburst "live" bass (which can be found a few pages back) but with a slightly darker tint to it. I also think the black hardware is a *huge* improvement - it may be just me, but I tend to find gold hardware gaudy as well as easily tarnished, and much prefer the black hardware that the ReBops come with.

I'm thinking of switching out the gold hardware on my NS5CRFM to black and most likely will take the same route you did. When I contact Allparts for the special order, do I just ask for M4s and explain the screw hole scenario or is there a more specific model # to mention to make a long story short?
