Good call on that if you prefer the bolt-on sound to the neck-through of the Euro models. The above as well as a "ZeBop" 4 DLX EX Zebrawood-topped four-string are 3 out of my 5 "main players" (and can tell you that a ReBop fretless is a thing of beauty, especially if you have HG Thor do his Epoxy Treatment witchery :smug: )...

Played the '85 NS-2 through the Titan/PH412 rig last night... :smug::smug:


"EEEEEVILLLL" was the tone as described by my guitards, lol! :D

It's pretty true though. A lot of heavy/crazy bands play Spectors, and it's easy to see why. They have the "Demon Note!" muahahahaha!! :D


Playing Thunderkiss '65 on that bass just nailed it as well as the Pantera tune we do. Whew. It can only get better from here on out!

Exactly why I love Spectors as well. They're just THE tone for me when it comes to the hard & heavy stuff. I've achieved great tone with other basses but it's just nothing like this.

Hey spector club guys, I have a question:

I'm loving my Spector Rebop 5 string, but its (natural) finish has been quite bland as of late. What wax/oil/substance can I use to perk it up a little bit? I've also noticed that the pickup side (as thumbrest) has started to build-up some darkening from finger grease. I dig the mojo and all, but how can I clean it?

For the meanwhile, here's a pic of my Spector chilling in Hawaii (where I bought it) :D

That one is cool. But it has dot inlays - those are stickers on there.

Isn't the EMG BTS just like the Hazlab? I've had both, but never at the same time so I never A/B'd them.

Currently playing stoner rock with it, downtuned to drop C and lower tunings is what Spector basses are created for. Sounds absolutely kickass. :bassist:

Bryan, first of all - beautiful bass! (I've seen a Invalid Link Removed with a similar Flamed Maple top that I'd *love* to be able to afford right now :( ). I have a few questions if you don't mind: by the Build Date and Serial # it looks as if it is very much "pre-Rosewood neck" option, so is the back of the neck simply stained black to match the body? Also, what pickup do you have in the bridge position? - I've heard that DCs, CSs, and 40Js are suppose to go well with a J in the neck position (also the Single/Dual Coil TWs to go from "Oomph" dual coils to a respectable Jazz tone with the J/Single Coil setup). And finally, where did you manage to snag a set of Willis Tuner "heads"? I recall that he used to offer then for sale from his website for a very reasonable price, but that once his Signature model hit the stores Ibanez made him stop as they were to be "exclusive" to *his* bass. I've checked on how much it would be to purchase a complete tuner set from Ibanez now, and it's INSANELY expensive: one set of his from Ibanez was the price of three Hipshot Ultralites. :rollno:

I'd also love to see a full-length picture of your Spector to see how the Willis Tuners affect the "look" of a Spector, so if you get a chance to do so I'd very much appreciate it. And if anyone has insight into the Willis Tuners (I once heard Gary originally found the heads for under a $1 each at a hardware store) and how to find some for less than the $200 that Ibanez charges, I'm all ears... err, eyes, as I'd love to outfit my 3 Spectors with them as well.
