Bryan, first of all - beautiful bass! (I've seen a Invalid Link Removed with a similar Flamed Maple top that I'd *love* to be able to afford right now). I have a few questions if you don't mind: by the Build Date and Serial # it looks as if it is very much "pre-Rosewood neck" option, so is the back of the neck simply stained black to match the body? Also, what pickup do you have in the bridge position? - I've heard that DCs, CSs, and 40Js are suppose to go well with a J in the neck position (also the Single/Dual Coil TWs to go from "Oomph" dual coils to a respectable Jazz tone with the J/Single Coil setup). And finally, where did you manage to snag a set of Willis Tuner "heads"? I recall that he used to offer then for sale from his website for a very reasonable price, but that once his Signature model hit the stores Ibanez made him stop as they were to be "exclusive" to *his* bass. I've checked on how much it would be to purchase a complete tuner set from Ibanez now, and it's INSANELY expensive: one set of his from Ibanez was the price of three Hipshot Ultralites.
I'd also love to see a full-length picture of your Spector to see how the Willis Tuners affect the "look" of a Spector, so if you get a chance to do so I'd very much appreciate it. And if anyone has insight into the Willis Tuners (I once heard Gary originally found the heads for under a $1 each at a hardware store) and how to find some for less than the $200 that Ibanez charges, I'm all ears... err, eyes, as I'd love to outfit my 3 Spectors with them as well.
My Spector NS2A. Purchased in 1989 before Kramer went out of business.

Very nice! Have you done any mods to it?
Thanks guys. No mods. It's served me well over the years. I contemplated adding EMG's over the years but never pulled the trigger.
Any thoughts on making this good sounding bass even better? I am open to suggestion?
Thanks.
Is the string spacing on a US Spector 5 string 17mm or 18mm?
Exactly what you already mentioned. Get the EMG P/Js and keep the stock preamp. Your ears and everyone else within listening distance will thank youNice NS-2A by the way. I'd love a white one to go with my black one.
So you got theseSo, I just ran into a problem. My Spector Euro4LX is getting a new finish. I am switching to black hardware. However, it turns out that the black Schaller M4's I bought have the mounting screws positioned "inward towards the middle of the headstock". However, the ones that were on the bass had these poitning "towards the body". PJ at Spector confirmed that they have been making them both ways now for some years. Mine were from Bass Parts Resources. I've checked with Allparts and Harris Teller, but they were all pointing "in towards the headstock middle". Anyone had this issue and found the others elsewhere?
