That's a good price. These didn't sell well at all, even with a limited run. I think street price was originally $1400. I've always wanted one though, but since I mostly play the neck pickup only, I'm thinking the J may be just a bit to thin. Still, looks like SA has a 45 day return policy. GAS....what to sell...can't part with one of my Spectors to get this...can I...:p

No, you can't...and shouldn't;) Otherwise you'll probably be let down like I was. I owned one, and although I loved the neck on it....the J/J pickups didn't cut it. It still sounded like a Spector, but I kept wishing the P pickup was there.

In a word- none. You cannot describe how awesome this ax is, especially for rock tone.

I finally can be in this club! I picked up a Spector NS2J CR last night. It great.

Yes I said a NS-2J CR. This is not the NS-2JA-R model but a reissue of the NS-2J they made in 2000-2001 to be sold only in Europe and Asia. I wasn't aware that Spector made these basses and I could not find any info on it on the internet anywhere, not even Spector site. So I wrote to PJ at Spector and sent him the serial number. He explained everything to me.

Here is what he said about it:
"yes this is an NS-2J CR from that era. by its serial number it was probably made in 2000. we made these in limited numbers for certain countries only, as a test before launching the ReBop bass worldwide. since it was not available worldwide I did not include it in the Model History page.

that bass should have these specs:
2pc alder
3pc maple neck, graphite rods inside
rosewood fingerboard, 24 frets, dot markers
EMG J active pickups
EMG BT active tone controls
black hardware including Spector locking aluminum bridge

the NS-2J bass you will receive is from a very short experimental period when we were figuring out the Czech bolt-on model which became the ReBop basses. .I would say less than 250 total, perhaps less than 200. it was never on our site as a model"

Well I think its pretty cool that I ended up with a bass that is kind of rare. Has anybody heard of these or anybody owns one?

Anyway this bass sounds sweet!! I love the finish on it, a kind of semi-transparent orange gloss. But enough talk and here are some pics.

There's an amber NS5CRFM in the TB classifieds. The title says "Euro" but it's definitely pre Euro. If I didn't just buy one, I'd be all over that deal.
