I owned a Korean made Spector NS 2000-4 several years ago and made the mistake of selling it. Since then I have always wanted another Spector. No other bass I have played felt as good in my hands. This week I scored a cherryburst NS-2A from Guitar Center for a decent price, $350.00 including shipping with a case. I spoke to PJ at Spector and he told me it's an 88 model probably with a Hazlab preamp. He says that it is made as well as the US models, and with an EMG pickup upgrade it will rival the current models. I will have it in about a week and post some decent pics.

Excellent purchase. After the EMG upgrade you'll be set tonally. PJ was correct on all counts regarding the NS2A. Great bass.
For those who ogle the green Spectors on this thread 
While scouring the interwebs for an NSCR5, I saw a green Euro 5er in the Guitar Center used dept on their site. They're asking $945 which seems pretty swell for someone fiending for the green

Makes me wonder if it's of the CR variety. It doesn't look as dramatically figured as the one I scored off of you though
GCs pics aren't the best so I'll reserve speculation or judgement. Still looks sweet regardless. I'd leap at it myself but I'm on the hunt for a black NS5CR atm.

The three knob configuration threw me off. I've never seen a Haz with that before but I'm far from an authority on it. The circuit board must look slightly different on that I'd imagine.

Well... talk about being totally pleasantly surprised!!!!!! The Black US SSD era NS5 is actually a BLUEBURST US SSD era NS5!!!!! The very 1st spectoe bass I owned was blueburst!!!! The bass is awesome!!! I put the original preamp in it. There is a dummy pot in it until I can get a plug. Here are some pics:

I'd love to try a 34" Spector 5 just to see. I reckon what you might lose on the B (I guess not a great deal) you'd get back on the high strings.
34" 5ers are special order these days, are they?
