So now that I have a Spector again how do I get a number?

All Spector 5-strings, since about 1998 or so, are 35" scale. Rebops have been around since 2002 or so, so they should all have a 35" scale. I am a short guy (5'7"), but the scale length never made a big difference to me. I think the benefits outweigh the disadvantages, but obviously that is not the case for everyone. But, yes...all Rebops 5-strings have a 35" scale.
I bought it from a guy on Craigslist. Did you just sell one like this to someone in Bethlehem, PA? From the way the guy talked I thought he was the original owner but maybe not. Either way its a great bass.

I went into my local GC and asked one of the salespeople to call the store that it was in and get an honest assessment on the condition of the bass. Unfortunately the salesperson said it had extensive belt buckle rash(which personally I don't care too much about) and the area around the horn had been worn down and scratched. The reason I didn't buy it on the spot was the fact that the horn area was evidently very scratched and they rated it a 6 out of 10 cosmetically. Knowing I can get a ReBop in like new condition on Talkbass for the same amount of money I respectfully declined.

Just bought a Spector today. I found a Performer 4, I believe, but I'm uncertain. It's a bolt on neck with EMG-SSD. I'm a little confused on which one it is because the grain runs horizontally and not vertically like most of the pictures that I have seen. I believe it is flamed maple also (black). I'll try and get a picture of it up later. Looking forward to using my new bass!

Sure there are a few battle scars, but that piezo option is really cool! The pictures make it look worse than it is. A waxin' and a buffing will take care of that.

Battle scars or not, that's a fine SSD era specimen. Got me thinking about another 5. Damn Spectors

SSD CR basses. Of course, a customer could option dots instead of crowns on a U.S. I guess.
I've never seen a CR bass with the SSD head stock (which the one I'm checking out has). Plus, it doesnt have the "Made in Czech Republic....." blurb on the back.
Out of interest, there's a thread Invalid Link Removed on Basschat that has some samples that Wraithwrider and I (Sean) did of our Spectors. I've recorded quite a few different pickup configs in different Spectors.
I'm hoping to get a new sample of my NS5 with its new EMG 40P5 (neck), EMG 40J (bridge) config posted up this weekend. The P/J in the 5 is fantastic.

I just came across a 5 string rebop with zebrawood top on ebay. It may be worth watching there's a few days left in the auction but right now its only at $150 and it looks to be in good shape from the pictures.

Does anyone know if Spector would do a USA NS2-J? But not the bolt-on '83-spec Euro version they have going on? Just curious.

It's been a while since I had a US Spector and I'm finally going to get my hand on another one. It's a US NS-5 from the SSD era in black. The preamp was replaced with an EMG preamp but the original preamp is included. I'll have to plug one of the hole. I should have it before the end of next week.

I'll always be of the opinion that Spector can't look any more stunning than in piano black.I'm on the lookout for a black fiver myself. Most likely of the NSCR variety unless a super sweet SSD like yours is picked up by my radar. Very nice get, Nino. Congrats!

I've owned a couple of those... blueburst NS4CR and a natural oil NS4CR.
Edit the Natural NS4CR has the original Spector Logo.

Also, my blueburst NS4CR didn't have anything on the back of the headstock or a serial number in the control cavity. It was a very early one.
