That's pretty Jaw dropping considering the only bass "deals" I tend to see on my local CL usually involve some dude trying to unload his Squier Affinty P for $250

That's definitely one for the greatest hits collection.
Can anyone explain the differences between this ReBop and the newer models with the crown inlays? Are there any differences besides the inlays? Do you think it's worth the $579.99?

and maybe the preamp. I prefer the Tonepump over the EMG pre's. So much so I may put a Tonepump in a vintage Spector and pull out the Hazlab. I know, the horror!
Decent price, but theres some Rebop 5's on the classifieds I think for a little better price.
Just looked through the classifieds and the ones that I saw were all sold.
They pop up on here all the time, so just be patient. That said, I don't think the one at GC is a bad price really.
Now if only a store around me stocked them so I could play one similar before I buy it...

Make sure you get a good price then if you don't like it, resell. Seems to be par for the course on TB. 
the only difference between that one and new rebops is the inlays and the new ones have flame tops.
That is a good question. Hopefully, I can answer that in the next day or so.Anyone ever had an issue with buying a used bass from Guitar Center and having it shipped to your house? I'll see if I can get it shipped to my local GC so I'm hopefully not responsible for any shipping damage. I hope this Spector is lighter than my Warwicks...
As far as being responsible for shipping, if the package looks damaged, make the driver wait while you inspect the instrument. If it is, have the driver note the damage and contact GC so they can initiate a claim. The bolt-ons are considerably lighter than the neck thrus.

The original Rebops were entirely made of alder bodies with no top and had dot inlays ONLY. For a very brief period, they offered the crown inlays along with the alder bodies with no top. Build quality on these was very good. However, I played a few of these and it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure whether it was the alder body or the EMG HZ pickups, but I felt the tone was a little bland on these compared to the neck-thru models. And the kind of had a boring look to them as well.
The newer Rebops now come with either a maple or zebrano top. However, calling it a top is kind of doing is disservice to the bass. The maple "top" on my Rebop is at least 1/2 the body or maybe even a little more, the other half being alder. I've seen a few zebrano models and its the same, the top is VERY thick on this, not just some paperthin laminate on an alder body. These are much better looking to me. Also, my Rebop does not sound bland at all, it sounds awesome. I can't say if its the maple top (my other Spectors were 100% maple bodies, which IMO is a large ingredient in the "Spector tone") or the upgraded EMG pickups (I have EMG 40DC/40CS pickups in mine, not the HZs that come stock), but its probably a little of both.
My advice would be, if you can't play it in person, wait it out for one of the maple or zebrano-topped Rebops. They usually sell for about the same price as the 100% alder Spectors, but they look and sound a lot better IMO. Especially if you change out the HZ pickups later on. Of course, if you get the Rebop at GC, at least you know you can probably sell it for the same price you will be paying for it. And the build quality is very good on all Rebops IME. Rebops are very highly under-rated in the bass-playing community and, on the used market, they are an absolute steal for what they are. Mine is every bit as nice a bass as the neck-thru Spector I used to have and nicer than many basses I've had which cost a lot more money.

I believe the older Rebops had a 35" scale as well? I had an amber colored 5 for a short time. My shoulder just couldn't get used to that extra inch.
