The pickups say USA on them. EMG-HZ on the top, Made in USA on the bottom. They came from Korea?
No, they are made in USA and are good pickups....just that they are passive!

No, they are made in USA and are good pickups....just that they are passive!
Yeah, that particular bass is passive unless you turn up either of the knobs (or at least there's a base line of juice the pre is providing) it's the "boost only" design. I've done some recordings on it with no boost and going straight to the board and it sounded fantastic. And the HZs are MIA as far as I knew, the SSD versions are not. They sound crappy for sure.

Sorry, thought I saw this on the "basses" forum.
Dunno about the "Made in USA" sticker, that's news to me. I don't believe it for a second. Almost every bass made in Korea uses them, and all the rest of their hardware is made there.
And based on the lead time it takes when ordering an EMG active pickup, I wouldn't be surprised if their actives are made overseas as well.
EMG's Select series are made overseas, just like Bartolini has an import series that go on lower priced instruments.
