Spector Euro 4LX Rebuild

Well, it has taken me forever to get over to the shop due to work, etc. I was able to swing by today but unfortunately only had the cell phone camera again. Nonetheless, you can see the final finish.

I've run into a snag as my gold Schaller M4's had the screw hole pointing towards the body but the black replacements I bought were facing in towards the middle of the headstock. Now I'm trying to find some Schaller M4's in that style. So far no luck. I just don't want to have empty drilled out holes on a freshly repainted bass.

Well, the tuners issue was finally sorted out. Here is an update if anyone ever decides to switch hardware:

Schaller makes the M4 and the M4 2000. The M4 2000 comes in both the "J" housing (screws are to the side of the tuner) and the 180 housing, where the screws are below the housing. I needed Schaller M4 2000 with J housing in black. The lead time is 2-5 months from Schaller!!!! I didn't want to have this bass sitting up for that long, so we are stealing the gold hardware off my Euro 4LX that has a bubinga top. When the black tuners arrive, I'll either switch back or just put the black hardware on my bubinga euro.

That means, this project will be finished next week. I'll of course post some really high quality pics for everyone.

That is, without about, the absolute BEST looking finish I've ever seen on any Spector EVER... that wasn't natural, lol :D! I may be a natural/wood finish kinda guy but that is seriously amazing! That should really be a standard finish on all Spectors because it just fits so well. Even as I type this, I have to scroll back up every few words just to look at it more! I already know it sounds great because I've got the same bass but I'd be hard pressed to say that even mine looks as good as this one. Those guys at New Orleans Guiat Company deserve some serious high-fives for this one. Don't forget to post this in the Spector Club thread either :D.

Though the only gloss finished natural basses they have are Birdseye Poplar from what I've seen. Not that I'm complaining, that's some sexy wood :D
