spector help

Hi guys I need some input I have rebop with hz's and tone pump love the tone but not the passive hum .. would like active to solve problem I tried DC's and wasn't the same tone I herd the hz's are c/s mags would the c/s or the tw's have at similar tone but just active any input would be great. Than for listening .. Jon

Passive/active has nothing to do with hum (usually). It's SINGLE COIL pickups that are prone to hum. Humbuckers and other variations of hum-cancelling designs use two coils. True low-impedance active pickups can be single coil and are less prone to hum due to their fewer windings...however a preamp is required with these and they don't sound the same as passive single-coil pickups.

Does the level of hum change as you walk around the room? Can you send us a recording?

As others have said, "passive hum" isn't a thing. If we can pinpoint the issue, we can probably save you some money with a cheaper fix so that you can keep your HZ's.

Yes it does change when I move around and from pla e to place I play sometimes it not there and other times its there bad wiring or lighting it doesnt bother me at home but no good on stage

Yes the old pump was a bit noisy and the out put was crazy hot. Best advise is get a new trim pot tonepump. They can be found cheap and the install is easy ( install it just like your current one). The new pot isn't set on "11" like the non Trim, and you can adjust the output to drive your amp as much or as little as you want. You can run the new one at 18v if you like ( I do) , and it sounds dangerously close to the US9v (haz) once you have it set up right. Very misunderstood and people change them out quick, because their not the flagship pre. Funny thing is, a lot of pro's are ordering their US basses with that pre ;)

Thanx grendle, for the info I'll get a new one and slap it in and I will try it at 18 .... I'll let you know how it goes... have you herd of any one put blend/volume I saw the diagram on the spector website. I mite try that out...
